Two naked co-workers lying on a cream bedspread pulled off from beneath the bed and a wine-colored comforter wrapped tightly around their bodies, their white feet sticking out from the bottom. The girl's raven hair fans out against the man's chest as her fingers map out his chest half-asleep. The amount of flesh pressing against flesh is physically shocking, the difference of warm against cold.
"…wanna go get a big breakfast?" Is all Arthur hears when he's noticed that Ariadne is speaking. Her voice is as warm as her tiny body.
He pauses for a second. He's not sure what to say. The girl is so much younger than him, an associate, but that first reaction of her lips compressed against his, as brief as it might have been, the reaction he was having to her lips outlining his nipple, makes him pause. But the words that fall from his lips are the same as if he hadn't paused.
"I don't mix business with work." He said simply. His words flow out of his mouth confidently, but beneath that assurance that he's got this all under control, he hopes she persists with her stubborn ideas. His self-reliance evaporates as she removes her lips from his nipple.
"Well you're doing it anyway, aren't you?" For a second, he doesn't know what she's talking about. He lowers his eyes to her head, and immediately regrets it as her big ebony eyes engulf him into a black hole. As if she were only a slow motion tape, she lowers her eyes to their hands, his large wrapped around hers and hers small, buried into a maze of his fingers.
He realizes that his thumb has subconsciously been stroking the soft skin between her thumb and her index finger. He doesn't know how long he'd been doing that, but he realizes he doesn't quite want to pull away as he withdraws his hand from hers.
"Maybe I have time for a little breakfast." With the knowledge that he's just admitted he hopes that this, whatever this is, lasts, she picks up the intercom and orders their breakfast.
