p Sunrise

pI watched the sun rise this morning, Hermione. I wished you could have been awake to see it: the way the purplish lavenders melted into hazy pinks, how the darkness parted like a giant curtain to reveal periwinkle skies and marshmallow clouds, the way the sweeping eschlons of geese created a startling, breathtaking reality… The sun's winking brightness creating a visible show of Earth's untainted splendor and the moon's slow descent into invisible ubiquity permenting the start of another day. The way gooey sunlight sweetened the view and brought everything into sharp relief so that no longer would a mighty oak's elegence be lost in the night or a single daisy's charm forfeited on the darkness. It was like nature's masterpiece. If I could save time in a bottle…what are the lyrics? I would save that sun rise for you. Maybe you would even explain to me the phenoma of solar eclipses while you studied it, and I would tease you and act like a lesson on eclipses meant nothing at all to me when really just the sound of your voice is enough to keep me going through the hardest of days. I wondered if I would ever be lucky enough to witness this beauty again. And then I looked down at you, sleeping peacefully in my arms, and I knew that whatever beauty I would ever need is in your smile.
