They were on vacation. Annabelle was sitting on the wood floor of the dock wrapped in a thin brown waffle weave blanket looking out at the wide expanse of sand which looked liked clouds in the blue sunset. Sheldon came out from the beach house they had rented and casually strolled up to her.

"hey. Whatcha doin?" he asked.

"just thinkin," she replied.

She felt lonely and sad. She didn't quite belong w/ them. She coughed.

"where's amy?" she asked then coughed again feeling flushed.

"she's inside," he replied. Then: "you're not getting sick are you? Cause I. cannot get sick."

"no I don't think so maybe. I don't know. There sure are a lot of bugs out here."

he pulled up a white plastic chair and sat.

"i know raj wouldn't enjoy it," she said.

"ya know he can talk to women now. sans drink."

or ladies as I call us annabelle thought.

"i know," she said recalling how earlier he'd said hi to her.

she stood the blanket dropping to the ground. She began walking towards the marina. To her left the dock expanded.

"you don't want the blanket?" sheldon called to her when she was a few ft. ahead of him.

"no," she called back. obviously.

"i'm actually feeling a bit warm."

he'd stood by this point. I'll just probably have to wash it anyway he thought to himself. She walked along the dock her hands outstretched towards the. Low vertical strings that the small lights were on wanting to touch them.

"you don't want to touch those," sheldon who'd suddenly appeared behind a green power box said. "the strings I mean."

well maybe you don't she thought.

"why not?" she asked.

"the strings are actually electric wires."

"oh. But isn't the boat electric powered?" she asked referring to a small white boat out on the marina. She then realised the cords the electric cords were contained inside walls. They were covered and set away from people.
