"Without You I Couldn't Live"
A fanfic by: Fallen Angel of the Light

With careful motions he quietly loaded the six shot revolver. First one bullet, then the second, spin the chamber, and then the third and fourth, one more spin, and in popped the fifth and sixth. He put it back in place and silently put the gun on his table.
Walking out through the quiet apartment he went and retrieved some clothing from the drier. Going back to his room he stripped down to nothing and then took those clothes and placed them in the hamper.
He then went back to where he had laid his clothes out and began to put them on. Boxers, undershirt, and socks first, both white and bleached. Then came on his black pants and white shirt, the one with the starched collar. Next his best tie, a simple one black silk one. With ease he tied it and then put on his black coat. Reaching under his bed he pulled out the big black shoes that he wore only for formal occasions such as this. He placed his feet in them and then bent down to fasten the buckles, first left and then right. Finally he retrieved the gun and placed it in the pocket inside his coat. He walked out of his room and then out the front door, turning off all the lights like his mother always yelled at him about, before grabbing his thick overcoat.
With no noise he took the elevator down to the front and then walked the block to the nearest subway station. He bought his ticket, boarded the train and took a seat in the far back where no one else stood. He got off at the park and slowly climbed the steps to the park above. Breathing into his hands to ward off the chill he quietly played over the memory repeatedly.
They had been battling Deviangemon, a strange hybrid digimon created from strands of DNA from Devimon and Angemon. Their digimon had not been faring well. Exveemon and Stingmon had DNA digivolved but it hadn't helped. Patomon digivolved into Angemon and Gatomon was even able to build up enough power to digivolve into Angewomon but they still were powerless. He could still see it happening. Shurimon trying to attack with his Double Star attack, Deviangemon blocking the strikes and firing his Black Fate, Shurimon pulling back his stars to protect Yolei. The twin blasts deflecting off of his hands and then careening off course. Him too far away to knock Kari out of the way, only able to scream. And then the light, the dark, evil light crashing into Kari. The brief scream of agony. The calling for her brother. He couldn't believe it. She was gone. Kari. He suddenly heard another yell. It was Angewomon. She had digivolved to her dark form: Archangewomon. She had destroyed Deviangemon with a single blast before returning to Gatomon. But it was too late. There was nothing left of her. Not even a scrap of cloth.
He had told Tai. It was horrible. For five days he didn't eat or drink and it was finally at the hospital that he was able to get help. Gatomon had taken it bad too. She had gone by herself to the Dark Dimension. She used her rage to digivolve into Archangewomon. And she attacked the Great Darkness itself. She had barely made it back alive. Now he was going to end it. He was at their spot. The small hill overlooking the entire river. No one else was here. Not surprising.
Quietly he took off his coat and dropped to his knees. He sobbed quietly. He pulled the gun out and flicked the safety off. She was dead, and now he would be dead too. With difficulty he held the gun barrel up to his head. Closing his eyes he prayed silently that it would be quick.
"Hikari!"
BANG!
