Prologue: Given Name
"What's your name?"
"…"
"Eh…what's your name?"
"Hey Takeshi, Kusaragi-sensei said something about her not knowing any Japanese…"
"Eh? You don't understand me?"
"…"
"I don't think she can remember anything either. The doctor said something about that too."
"…"
Muddy green-black eyes were fixated on bright honey-hazel ones. Her head tilted slightly to the side in confusion as she bit her lower lip. She clearly didn't have a clue what was going on. Poor girl.
"No name? Well then… We can't have that can we oyajii? Everyone must have a name ne? How about I give you one!"
Her eyebrows scruched together tighter, confused at his sudden enthusiam.
"Yui! How does Yui sound?"
Her frown deepened and she raised a brow. "…"
"Eigo…English, Takeshi. Maybe she speaks English?"
"Ah good idea, oyajii."
A wide dazzling grin graced his young face and then disappeared with a look of concentration, "Yui! Your…namae…name is Yui. Ok?"
Yui? Her name? That's definitely not her name but…did she have a choice? When all she had was a gaping hole in her memory? Besides, this boy…Takeshi right? Takeshi looked really helpful and hopeful for her to not refuse.
The corners of her mouth stretched into a small smile, trying to make an effort to look friendly. "Sure…Yui…it sounds nice."
"Eheh," the Takeshi's face lit up again when she said this, "Glad you like!"
Her muddy-green eyes landed on his father who looked like a much older version of Takeshi. He the same dazzling grin on his face. The smile was heriditary it seemed…
"Let's get along well shall we?"
