Conquered: The Fall of Terramorphous

And so, on this, the Eve of the Twenty-Eighth of the Seventh Month, our Commando rose to the paramount challenge. What was his grand destiny? For what purpose did he prepare for the end, time upon time, spawn after spawn? What drove him to such extremes? The answer is as glorious as the task was treacherous. To conquer the Unconquered, to slay the Immortal, to wound the Invincible.

The river shone red in the sunset, a torrent of crimson foretelling the bloodshed. Undaunted, our champion ascended the peak that bore the monstrosity's name. He vowed that today was to be the day the reign ended, today Terramorphous would fall.

The combat was long and arduous. Defeat and death came in time, for no man here has yet to slay the beast so flawlessly as to go undefeated themselves, but this time would be different from all attempts previous, as our hero had not come alone.

The key alteration that guaranteed conquest was the addition of a space-time-alternative clone in an unreachable location. The beast fought in vain as this additional combatant was beyond its considerable reach. All spikes thrown vanished just before contact and the mysterious duplicate remained safe from harm.

Now the beast was made from god to mortal, as with each death of our hero a threat remained in it's domain, such that it could not replenish it's extensive vitality.

Four rocket salvos thereafter, (a re-spawn between each), the beast's non-regenerating wounds began to take their fatal toll, in a final effort to purge the foolish mortals who entered it's domain, who threatened to dethrone it, it screeched at the sky in defiance of it's fate and utilized the secret technique: the Wormhole.

The combatant was swiftly gouged to death on the Vacuum Spikes that the Thresher had extended from it's flesh, but not before loosing a nearly decisive salvo of explosives. It was clear the end was nigh.

The final assault was brief, yet tense. One last attack and the threat was ended, the gargantuan Thresher writhed in it's death throes, at last sinking back, deep within the tainted earth that had spawned it all those eons ago.

The Invincible was no more.
