All her life all Olivia ever knew was pain and heartache, nights she would wake up with fear and grief she would never explain. Growing up she used to be beaten, teased, picked on. For her hair, her eyes, the little horns that poked above her ears.
So night after night she would sit up on a hill and watch the stars. Making promises with them, asking if it would ever end. They would tell her to believe.. to stay true to herself, to continue to chase her rainbows. But the more and more she listened the less and less she believed them.
As Olivia grew up, phobias and fears developed, she was anxious and now no longer a stranger to her heartache. Sitting up on her hill every night she would talk to the summer stars, trying to move on more and more... but every time she ever tried to move on it would never work. The words that were embedded into her heart and ears were forever there. Olivia was sick of it! Sick of the past she could never forget, the mountain of regrets she had and the hasty pile of steps she could never retrace. It burned her up inside. "Is it over yet...?" She would ask her stars, expecting an answer but never getting one. She was a shadow.
A cold winter night, the rain and wind nipped and bit at her skin. She sat up on her hill, gazing up at the stars. Asking when would it be over. Tears welled in her eyes at the lack of a reply. Wanting the stars to lead her to a home that she didn't have, a safe place and her heart ached and longed for. But they never could. They just twinkled.
That night, Olivia was almost asleep, when she jumped with a start. Her fear was back.. the problems and pain flooding in to her. It burned.. That was when he showed up. His amber eyes sparkled in the dark shadows of the night. Yet he smiled, sitting down, the pain was easy to see in his eyes. She sat up, and watched him. He speaking as if he spoke to her. And every time he would pause Olivia would comfort him. Tell him he just needed to be brave. From that moment on... she knew she was in love.
He came back.. night after night. And instead of looking to the stars she looked to him. Made promises to him that she would always keep. Would say things that her heart needed to hear. he was safe, the home she never had and longed for. He never heard her or her words of love and passion because She was a shadow.
A cold night came back, with a longing heart, and cold skin she nuzzled under the arm of the crying man who sat up on the hill with her every single night. The man looked down to see her. He breaking a weak smile and pulling her closer to him. "Ciao.." His voice was soft.
"You..You can see me.." Olivia looked up at him with fear and longing in her eyes. He gave a nod and pushed his tears away. "I always could..".
Olivia was a demon. Horns sharp, and fangs, a tail, large black leather wings, dark red hair and eyes like blood. But her face was soft and her heart was softer. The girl beaten and bruised her whole life only to be burned up inside by her own self. A demon who found love in a simple human man who would never speak to her. But would sit there with her.. every night. She wasn't so alone anymore..
He, Lovino, was no more then a man. But he always saw and heard the women in the shadows. He could always hear the pain in her voice and see the need in her eyes. But never did he say anything. Night he wouldn't say anything at all... just listen to her speak, or cry.. or talk to the stars she longed for. The nights he cried, and she comforted him were the nights he lived for. It was the only reason he lived any more. Because a girl he never really knew told him he could make it, that he was okay.
She was a demon.. but his angel.
