Contrary to popular belief, the exhibits did get ill. It was all apart of coming alive every night. Though they only ever got ill for a single night - the tablet healing them while the sun was up.
Octavius was the one who was feeling under the weather, retiring to his room in the diorama - that was almost never used - right after sunset.
Jedediah was looking for his Roman friend.
One of Octavius' men showed the cowboy to where his friend was, leaving the blond at the door.
Jedediah knocked lightly on the door, opening it to reveal his friend sprawled on his bed, covers wrapped tightly around him.
"Yes?" the Roman general croaked, not looking towards the door.
"T'is me, Jed."
Octavius shivered.
"You ill, buddy?" the blond made his way over to the unwell man.
"A bit, yes. I'm just feeling rather cold, is all. And tired. And sore."
"Sorry I can't do anything for ya." Jedediah had an idea. "Wait, there is one thing I can do for ya. Budge up a bit."
The cowboy had made his way over to the bed, and pulled up a corner of the covers. When the elder man did as he was asked, the westerner climbed into the bed, wrapping himself around the dark haired man.
"Better?" he asked, feeling how cool the man's skin was.
"Much. Thank you, Jed."
The two men yawned simultaneously.
"I reckon both of us could use some sleep."
"Indeed." the Roman mumbled, turning round in the younger man's arms, nuzzling into his chest. Jed chuckled, and hugged Octavius closer.
"Comfy?"
"Mmhmm."
The pair both drifted off into a sleep, and awoke shortly before sunrise. Octavius was feeling better, and Jedediah was feeling much more energised.
"How 'bout tomorrow we take the car out for a spin?" the blond rambled, as he started to make his way out of the room.
"Maybe." Octavius smiled slightly.
"Or we could cuddle some more." Jed spoke rather quietly, and the Roman had to strain his ears to hear him. "I rather liked it."
"Me too!" Octavius called, just before the door shut.
Smiles spread across both mens' faces.
