Tournament of Masters

'Thoughts'

Ch.1: Back to the Basics

A/N: It has been a while, huh? Sorry for being late. read A/N at the end.

(Ash, Delia and Gary were all standing in the main hall of the Oak Laboratory)

Ash: Gary, why did Professor invited us?

Gary: Even I don't know. He said he will be here just about now.

There was a sudden noise of an engine roaring then it died down and a knock from the front door was heard.

Gary opened the door.

Delia: Oh, Professor we were getting restless.

One by one Professor Oak, Misty, Brock and Cynthia came in.

(Cynthia had lost her crown as the Sinnoh champion a couple of months back to Tobias. Who finally an intense year of training was able to beat the Champion in what was dubbed the 'Battle of the Century'. After sucessfully challenging Lance and Kanto elite four she became the Kanto champion)

Oak: So all of you are here. Sorry work at the league took an hour more than I expected. So today at league the new plan for the tournament was finalized and given green light.

Gary: Tournament?

At the mention of the word tournament an exited look appeared on Ash's and Gary's face making Cynthia and Misty to chuckle.

Oak: Calm down Gary, Ash! As I was saying every region hosts a conference per year . The tournaments occur one after the other an a few months, usually around spring and a trainer can participate in only one per year. This year marks the birth centenary of Master Red. And the next year marks the birth centenary of master Gold. So the League has planned to host a combined tournament which will last for two years. Participants will select a region to challenge. Then theycan challenge the gyms in any order. They will have to complete the region in an year or in other words win eight gold badges. In spring instead of the regular Silver conference/ Indigo league tournament participants will cross the Silver mountains earning the Silver badge. Then the next year participants challenge the other region. Earn the next eight badges. Then in the next spring trainers with seventeen gold badges participate in The Tournament of Masters. You cannot use any pokemon you used in an officiated match before in your career. For this reason you get to choose a new pokemon as your starter. And some select places across the two regions house pokemon from other regions as well. Also depending upon the badge number the difficulty level of the gym leader will increase.

Ash: Wow! It sounds great!

Gary: (calculative look) What's the prize?

Oak: Ha-Ha! I knew you will ask that. All the semi-finalists get their ranks upgraded to elite trainer, and the winner will get his rank elevated to Master level.

(Elite trainers: Winners and/or two time runner ups of the League tournaments. Are able to challenge the Elite Four and Champions

Masters: Winners of two or more league tournaments, along with successfully defeating A champion and his/her set of elite four)

Ash: That means Lance, Cynthia, Johto and Kanto elite four are all going to participate?

Cynthia: Yes we will.

This discussion went on for a while.

Cynthia: Registrations will start at in two weeks at any Pokemon Center. And Ash can you accompany me to the Rota. Professor Oak told me you have some history there and that will help there.

Ash: You can bet I will!

Cynthia: Thanks! We will leave day after tomorrow in morning and will take a ride from Indigo Plateau.

Ash: Alright!

A/N: I'm sorry and I have started to rewrite this chapter all over as the previous one was more of a ramble. Don't worry I will finish this. And all your suggestions were noted. Schedule will still be erratic :( Sorry again.
