The clock ticked loudly in the small classroom on the third floor while an older man droned on and on about what next year would entail and what responsibilities would come about for Senior Year. The curly hair girl that sat in the back of the classroom, rolled her eyes and looked outside the window. She observed the gentle breeze that swayed the lush green trees and moved the fluffy white clouds gently across a fair blue sky before turning her attention back to the clock on the wall; There were only 3 minutes left of hearing her teacher drone on about life before she could zip out of the school and start her summer vacation.

"Well class, I hope you all have a wonderful summer vacation," He began, clasping his hands behind his back, "I hope to see you all next year and don't forget-"

Before he could utter the remaining words of his sentence, the bell rang and all the students grabbed their bags and filed out into the halls.

Vanessa Alvarez was your typical seventeen year old girl and had just finished Junior year of High School; Which was in her opinion, the most difficult year of High School but that was all over and it was the first day of summer! So what better way to spend it than to go home, pull up her Netflix account, and watch Transformers Prime. Providing if she could make her way out of the parking lot, she cringed at the thought of all the traffic that would occur and made her way over to the golden Honda Accord where her younger brother, Julian was waiting.

"Took you long enough," he remarked, putting his bag in the trunk.

"Oh shut up," she retorted, placing her bag down before slamming the trunk door shut. "You already know that the idiots in this school move at a snail's pace."
Vanessa and Julian got into the car before starting it up and pulling out of the parking spot, driving home with the windows down and music blaring loudly from her speakers.

They had finally made it home after it what seemed like hours, sitting in traffic and Vanessa wanted nothing but to sit her butt down and watch Netflix. However, her younger brother insisted on playing at least an hour of xbox before sitting down to watch a new episode of their favorite T.V. show: Transformers Prime. Vanessa decided to take that time to head upstairs and change into comfier clothes which consisted of capri leggings and a t-shirt. Satisfied with the change of clothes, Vanessa head downstairs into the kitchen and placed a bag of popcorn into the microwave that filled the house up with a buttery aroma. She made her way to the basement door, it had been an hour and Julian was still in his little "man cave" playing video games.

"Julian!" She whined from the top of the steps, " Come upstairs and watch Transformers with me!"

Vanessa was starting to get impatient and hoped he wouldn't stay on his Xbox to continue playing Minecraft. Although, it didn't surprise her in the slightest; What 15 year old boy wouldn't be glued to his T.V. with some kind of game on it.

"Okay Peach, I'll be up soon," He finally yelled out.

Vanessa rolled her eyes at the nickname, she absolutely despised it. Shaking her head, she went into the living room and plopped down on the couch and wondered how much longer it would take her brother to come upstairs. However, after a few minutes he finally came upstairs and sat down besides Vanessa.

"So, did you finish that castle thingy you were building?" She asked, turning on the TV and clicking on the Netflix icon.

"Nah, Viking and I still have a lot to finish," He said, shrugging. "Maybe when we're done you can come and check it out."

"That sounds really cool; I hope you didn't overload the place with the butt ugly villagers," Vanessa grinned and pressed play on a new episode as Julian laughed. The intro started and they were only a couple seconds into the episode when the lights began to flicker wildly and Julian looked at Vanessa with furrowed brows.

"Shit," she cursed and prayed that there wouldn't be a blackout.

They were both confused on why the lights were flickering, This usually happened during a storm, but the skies were clear, maybe there was something wrong with the power line.

"Hey, uh Vanessa," Julian said, eyes going wide.

"What-" She started, but her attention immediately snapped to the TV; It was going haywire! The TV had begun to emit a green glow that surround the whole room, the show became distorted and a huge flash erupted in the room then everything went black.
