All That Glitters is Not Gold

Dean has become well-versed in the language of migraines.

Prolonged groans means darkness and whispers. High-pitched screaming is bad; double doses and puke buckets bad. Silence is unthinkable.

(It only happened once and they aren't going down that road again).

Tonight is one of the bad ones.

Sam's dose should've kicked in already but he's still making this god-awful shrieking and Dean knows another injection is in order.

The needle sparkles dangerously in the moonlight before sliding into the skin below Sam's abdomen. Afterwards, Dean pulls his brother close, stroking his back and wishing he could take away the pain.
