Headache. That was the only thing she noticed. Her leg was probably broken. She didn´t care.

Her head hurt so much, everything else became numb. She prayed for unconsciousness. And there it was. Her world became black.

He lifted the body off the ground, feeling the damp of blood coming. She barely breathed.

"C´mon Carter…stay with me."

Headache. Oh how it hurt. He was surely heavily injured. He just hoped he would make it to the gate before he fainted.

Blood ran out of her mouth, dyed her lips. She coughed and more blood poured out of her mouth.

"No. No. No. Carter, damn it."

He stumbled and fell on the muddy ground. His hands stroked her face, wiped the blood away. Her heart beat hardly. She wouldn´t make it. He knew that. He could feel it, deep inside of him.

"I´m here Sam. Always."

He held her in his arms. Her eyes flickered open, just a second, and then she smiled weakly.

The pain was gone. She felt numb all over. For a moment she panicked, then she saw his face and knew, that everything was alright.

No fear.

Her eyes shut she felt her heartbeat slowing. She was dying. She was ready for it.

She inhaled deeply. Her last breath. Then she was gone. And he died along with her.

The blast struck him in the back. He didn´t notice. He was already dead.

Major Baldwin walked slowly down the battlefield. Her eyes were wet, she couldn´t do anything against her tears. She had a lump in her throat that couldn´t be swallowed.

There they were. She could make out the short blonde hair of her CO and the grey hair of the general. He was holding Colonel Carter in his arms.

Baldwin had to smile at that scene. Yeah, that was the only way they could die. The glorious O´Neill/Carter team, stands together, falls together, dies together.
