"Meredith I am so sorry." Everything else was pretty much a blur after that. Meredith did not see this coming, it was like taking a sledge hammer right to the head. It probably would have felt better than what was about to happen next.
Very smugly Addison says, "And you must be the woman who is screwing my husband."
Meredith quickly leaves the hospital in tears. Derek can't follow her although he desperately wants to, there are more important matters to tend to right in front of him. Satan in human form is what he has been calling her inside his head lately. His wife whom he thought he would never see again was now standing there in his hospital and looking as glamorous as ever. Derek grabs her by the arm and drags her into an on call room.
"Addison, I ask again, what are you doing here?" he questions.
"Do you really think I am going to let you walk away from this marriage?"
"You walked away when you decided to open your legs for Mark." At this point Derek can't even look at her. He walks to the back of the on call room and rests his elbows on the top bunk of one of the beds. What she did was unforgivable. She slept with his best friend, in his bed. Now she comes storming into his life again expecting it all to be ok. No, not what after she did, not after she just drove Meredith away.
"You owe it to us to give it a try, Derek. We all make mistakes. Look at you, you are screwing your student. I am not the only guilty one here." Addison is desperately trying to make him see that they can get through this together. She wants him to see that she deserves a second chance and she is willing to give him one for leaving the way that he did.
"No, Addison, I can't do this. I can't even look at you. I don't want to look at you." He looks up at her, his eyes glassy like he may at any moment break down and cry.
"Is this about her?"
"I want you to leave and I never want to see you again. It's over." He tries to stay as calm as he can but inside he is boiling up. He wants to scream. He wants to throw something. He wants to burn his mind's eye from seeing his wife bending over for his best friend. Anything to take the pain away. What about Meredith? Will she ever speak to him again? So many things rushing through his head. He just wants to go to her and make it all alright, he isn't even sure that she'll let him. He needs to try.
"Just tell me, Derek." She pleads.
"I am in love with her."
