Fate, Destiny, Family. What do they have to do with each other? Why, their children, of course. Otherwise known as Protector!Asriel's backstory and the next project I'm using as an excuse to not update Mercy or No Mercy.

1. Chapter 1

Fate has strange ways of working.

Their favored child was Ink. But he could not hear their whispers, and created ceaselessly.

Their least favorite child was Error. True, he was important to the Balance, but they did not like him. He made their favored child upset, and they did not like that one bit.

Fate reckoned they could not make mistakes.

They were dreadfully wrong.

Destiny had a strange way of working.

Their favored child was Error. But he was bound to his job, and could not leave it.

Their least favorite child was Ink. He created ceaselessly, making AUs with no purpose. He threatened the entire multiverse with his existence.

Destiny reckoned they could help their favored children.

They were right, and it upset the balance, enough to send it over the brink.

The Family had a strange way of working.

Yes, they were family. But they did not like each other, nor did they favor one child over the other.

But if they had to pick favorites, the Mother would pick Dream, while the Daughter would pick Nightmare. The Father would pick CORE Frisk.

And the Son?

He'd pick Protector Asriel any day.

But that is a tale for another day.
