Hey, this is my first fanfiction.
AU, where Benjamin dies, and Lucy doesn't lose her mind=)
Hope you like it!
After I took the poison, my eyes went black... I couldn't see a thing. I swore I was going to die but no ... instead, I felt a burning feeling inside my heart, where my life was suppose to be.
Johanna... Ben... even Mrs. Lovett, the baker.
Without them, my life would be like an empty jar.
But I knew I was alive. I wasn't going to let the pain carry me away from the ones that I love.
All the sudden I heard, "Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Barker? Are you alrigh'? ello?"
Suddenly, I woke up.
"...um...",
"Oooh good! For a second there I thought you were...you were...never mind. Wot happened?"
I started to feel light headed...started to fall into my last sleep.
"Noo don't close your eyes love! You may never wake up! Love, stay with me!" The person speaking shook me and I jolted, which I soon realized was not a smart idea. I felt a pain shoot up my spine. I slowly started to sit up and I could see clearer now. Mrs. Lovett was kneeling besides me.
"Mrs. Lovett is Johanna alrigh'? Where's Ben? I wish to see him," I sputtered. He was nowhere to be seen, so I was frightened to no end.
She stared at me like she felt sorry for me, I could see it in her eyes.
She slowly started to speak."Mrs. Barker I am so sorry... your husband, Mr. Barker, is dead," When she said that, my heart sank and I wished I was dead. But now I had to remember... I was still alive... still living... not with Ben...
The month after that was very dark and I still had the same little bugger, the Judge, on my tail. I had just wished that I could tell him to go and sit in a corner and rot... but no...
I couldn't.
"Mrs. Barker, are you up here?" I heard Mrs. Lovett's voice from down the stairs one day.
"Yes," I answered.
She came in with a freshly baked apple pie, which was so kind of her, but I was not hungry. She put it down on the very small table.
"Thank you," I said softly, hoping that she would hear.
"You know Mrs. Barker it is not healthy for a fine young women like yourself to just sit in here and look out that window every morning."
"I know..." I muttered.
"Then why do you?"
"Because I hope that the sun will come out... and that the blue birds will sing. That the mama birds will feed their happy chicklings... that Ben will come down that street and I will see him wave to me... and I will go flying into his arms again and kiss him on the cheek...".
She looked away carefully, knowing that she had hurt my felling with what she had said. She didn't mean to, but she did.
But that was alright.
"Mrs. Barker, if you want... we could stroll in into the market together and...shop?" she said happily
"Alrigh'," and at that moment, I knew everything would be alright for me, Johanna, and Mrs. Lovett.
