Disclaimer: Own Nothin'!
At the age of 15, I made my first headline. It read "Local Teen Only Survivor of Massacre". Nice huh? It had a picture of the outside of the diner underneath, I was too young to be named publicly yet. That's what I became known for after that one, being the only survivor. That wasn't seen again for years.
The next headline I made read, "Diner Survivor Becomes Only Female CSI". The article had a picture of me with my diploma, then another one of me in my lab coat. That one was a little bit better. That meant I actually made a name for myself, instead of being a victim. That one was posted proudly on my parent's refrigerator.
The most recent headline I made read, "Diner Survivor Celebrates Verdict with Mystery Man". It had a picture of Danny Messer and I inches from our first kiss. Now that one was the best. It meant I was finally truly able to move on, live my life as someone free of burdens and worries. Maybe find someone to live my life with, hopefully that someone is the man in the photo, the man I work with everyday. That one was posted proudly on the refrigerator in the break room in the lab.
N/A: An idea from another prompt at http://community. #218 Headline
