AN: just a poem I wrote up, because I love Gellert. Please leave reviews.

It was for the greater good, they said,

the ends will justify the means.

The stars did vanish far from sight,

as he sought to reach them.

It was for the greater good, they laughed,

in foolish boyhood dreams.

The warmth soon went with bodies cold;

a lesson meant to teach them.

It was for the greater good, he realized,

People must be lead.

It was for the greater good, he shouted,

Embrace the freedom, look past the dead.

It was for the greater good, he whispered,

alone, in shadow's rise.

It was for the greater good, he thought,

when once more, he met his eyes.

It was for the greater good, he knew,

to let the other win.

It was for the greater good, he saw,

some satisfaction in giving in.

It was for the greater good, he dreamed,

when all he had was nothing.

It was for the greater good, he screamed,

insanity approaching.

It was for the greater good, he wished,

aged and in regret.

It was for the greater good, he clung,

not wanting to forget.

It was for the greater good, he wept,

tears running like blood.

It was for the greater good, he kept,

the sorrow rising with the flood.

It was for the greater good, he heard,

a shadow whisper in the night.

The ends will justify the means,

with one rising to power.

It was for the greater good, he watched,

the shadow streaking black in flight,

to circle upward, climbing high,

up to the castle tower.

It was for the greater good, he felt

one last form of rebellion.

It was for the greater good, he decided;

He wasn't telling anyone.
