I don't own Naruto, I only own my OC and the plot that I've twisted into creation.

Level 1 Player Start

Wine colored eyes blinked in confusion as they took in everything in their line of sight. The owner of the eyes, a woman with a messy head of shoulder length, curly blue-black hair, made a confused expression. Her pale skin glowed in the dimly lit room she found herself in. It looked like the walkway in the front of her house. She turned and looked up the stairs and her eyes widened at the sight of light pouring out of a room. She looked down at the ground and a scream tore itself from her throat. Glassy wine eyes set against waxy skin unseeingly stared up at her. She was looking at her body. She finally remembered what had happened. She'd been pushed down the stairs, breaking her neck. Turning away from her corpse she rushed up the stairs and headed into the room filled with light.

"You are late," A voice informed her.

"I'm late?" She slowly asked.

A person, they seemed to be both male and female, sat behind a desk with soulless black eyes staring at her. They motioned towards the high backed wooden chair in front of the desk and she slowly walked over and sat down. The person behind the desk looked down at the stack of paper in front of them. Their eyes then snapped towards her.

"You've caused me quite a bit of paper work, dying well before you should," The person calmly stated.

"I didn't mean to?" She tried, she was trying to fight of her unease at the persons dead voice.

"I know," the person confirmed, "I have decided to give you a second chance, one that you have some control over."

"What's the catch?" She asked.

"Your name is no longer yours, your nationality is no longer yours, the only thing that remains are your looks," the person stated, they snapped their fingers and a tablet appeared in front of the woman, "Use this to decide what you will. Be careful with how you choose. Things will be changed accordingly."

"Right," She muttered in understanding as she picked up the tablet and began to fill out the information.

Some of it was already filled out for her. She frowned at the info but decided to continue onwards. Never look a gift horse in the mouth and all that. A small blush appeared on her face at the last part.

She finished and gave a quiet sigh. She just brought two people back from the dead, hopefully they stay that way. She wondered what his new last name will be. She handed over the tablet and the person looked over it before smirking. They leaned back in their swivel chair.

"You didn't let yourself be godlike? That's unusual for someone with this chance," The person stated, "I like your guts."

"Thank you," she replied with a small smile.

The person barely returned it before sending the woman on her way. She was going to do great things, especially with who she chose to be teamed up with and taught by. The Narutoverse was going to change. Ninja's would have to act like ninjas. They just hoped that man was ready to behave himself, after all they'll all keep their memories, even their abilities. Locked behind seals they have to work on to unlock. They wouldn't make it easy for the two. They found themselves excited for the first time in eons. They hoped that he didn't blame the woman for bringing him back, that man should be glad for the second chance.

Solid red eyes fluttered open and blearily looked around the rather sparse room. The owner, a girl the age of twelve, sat up and gave a yawn before turning her attention towards her window. People were already bustling about and her eyes softened at the sight. She climbed out bed before smiling. Misa Ranmaru decided that she rather liked being alive at the moment. She ran a hand through her lengthy hair before finding her hitai-ate and a note and staring at it for a few seconds and reading the note with instructions to go to the academy to be sorted into her team. Her mind slowly devised a way to bring up her strength and speed and accuracy, she had been next to dead last because of her physical scores, but passed due to her chakra control. She tilted her hair down so she could tie it without getting her hair caught in the knot. She finished tying it and straightened up. Her face was annoyed as the hair stuck up in a mess of flips. She found a black ribbon and tied her hair back into a small ponytail. Her bangs and fringe easily hid most of her face and covered the metal plate with the Konoha symbol. She opened a pair of doors and her mouth hung open in surprise at the sight of a walk in closet.

"They weren't kidding about the mountain of clothes," She muttered as she looked around for something she wanted to wear.

She settled on a mesh armor under a black turtle neck shirt without sleeves, she tucked those into a pair of plated black cargo pants that she tucked into black heeled knee high sandals. She looked at herself in the wall that was just a mirror and tilted her head. She was missing something. She found a green vest in the style of ANBU armor and pulled it on. She'd like to wear the white one that had been next to it, but she didn't want the trouble of ANBU this early on. She found weights and she sighed as she removed her sandals and grabbed a few rolls of bandages. She placed the weights on her left arm before wrapping it in bandages from her middle finger to her upper bicep. She copied it on her other arm before quickly bandaging the weights attached to her legs. She pulled her sandals back on before slowly standing up. The extra weight wasn't helping her. She grabbed the standard pouches and put them in the correct places. One around her waist that fell against the side of her hip, and one strapped to her left leg.

"I should make some lunch," Misa muttered as she headed out of the sparse room and into a rather modern looking kitchen. "This doesn't fit."

She shook her head and began to make a quick lunch consisting of a tuna sandwich. She finished and put it in her kunai pouch before heading off to the academy. She was slightly worried about how her day was going to go. She didn't know how her team was going to react to her, she couldn't predict how it was going to go.

Meanwhile at the academy a boy sat in the back with a serious expression on his face. His eyes, dark grey respectively, were old and weary. He was different compared to the preteens around him. Those preteens were happy and excited for the life they were about to lead, but he knew better. He knew it was a life filled with carnage, but, a spark came to the dark grey eyes, it could also be filled with happiness. Those trained to take a life could also save a life. He knew what kind of squad he was going to be on, and who his female teammate was going to be. A woman who had entertained millions on the Internet, whatever that was, who had died after being pushed down the stairs.

Grey eyes moved towards the door and he gave her points. She was dressed for battle and she had one hell of a poker face for an ex-civilian. She felt his eyes and she looked towards him with a raised thick brow. She somehow made those eyebrows work with her pale skin and dark hair.

"Misa-chan," He called.

She looked at him with wide eyes before walking over. He gave an inward smirk at the tips of her ears, they were red. He found someone who seemed to be easily flustered. She hadn't looked the type. He smiled at her and motioned for her to sit next to him.

"So, why me?" He quietly asked.

"A perfect time frame," Misa quietly replied, "Not many people will be overly suspicious of someone with a shared name, and you have an idea of what's going on."

"The Sato family has a Dojutsu similar to the Sharingan," He told her, "We're genjutsu masters, but we can't copy other Jutsu. It makes sense, to create families that didn't exist."

"Indeed," Misa agreed before sighing quietly, "Sorry for dragging you into this, Shisui."

He looked to her in surprise and noticed the apologetic smile on her face. She was mild mannered? She looked like she'd be far more calculating and cold than she was. Shisui let out a laugh at that, he wasn't one who should be judging someone on their appearances. He was known for being confident when he was sometimes anything but. Misa slowly covered her face with her hands. She let out a genuinely cute cry of shyness and the man turned into a boy let out a small grin.

"I'm not upset," Shisui told her, "A second chance is still a second chance."

Misa nodded in understanding and they turned and blinked in confusion as the doors to the classroom was slammed open by a pinkette and blonde. Misa leaned forward onto the desk in front of her and watched as the two slung insults at each other. Shisui made a face at the display and wondered if the Kunoichi from the past were like this. The two watched as the pinkette turned towards Sasuke. Shisui winced at the cold nature of his small cousin. What did Itachi do to the poor kid? Sure he'd been a brat, but he wasn't cold to other people. He ended up joining Misa as he leaned on the desk. His shoulder ended up against her's, but he didn't care. She was generating a lot of heat and he turned and watched as she looked around the classroom. She had some ninja tendencies. He had a feeling that she'd make a great Kunoichi. Of course she needed to be trained up, he had seen her physical scores. Taijutsu and anything involving throwing was terrible, but her chakra control was incredible. She was already using it to increase her strength to help carry the weights on her arms. He knew the amount of chakra she had would be pitiful, but he knew a way to get her to increase it.

"All right, everyone settle down!" Iruka called as he walked into the classroom. "As of today you are all genin, but this is not the time to slack off!"

"He's not wrong," Misa muttered as her eyes narrowed.

"Today you'll be put on the teams that'll help start your career," Iruka stated before he began to call off teams.

They had all been the same, even team seven. Misa sat up when most of the children had been paired up. Iruka looked nervous at the next team, and she knew right then that it was the Assassination team. She knew that he didn't like the idea of children doing such a job, but she knew that he forgot that he trained these children to kill. He looked up at them before sighing quietly.

"Team fourteen," Iruka called, "Sato Shisui, Ranmaru Misa, and Yamanaka Michiru."

Eyes turned to the group of three as whispers broke out. Team Fourteen was even more legendary than team seven. It had been disbanded fifty years ago after the second shinobi war. There hadn't been a need for a team of assassins since then. The blonde let out a sound of confusion, he didn't get what the big deal was about the team.

"What's so special about team fourteen?" The blonde asked, his voice loud in the sea of whispers.

"It's Stealth and Assassination with field interrogation, Naruto," Iruka informed him, "It's been reinstated."

Naruto looked at the teammates. Shisui and Misa, the girl had returned to her previous position, were sitting close together with serious expressions on their faces. Michiru, the typical blonde Yamanaka with pupiless blue eyes, had frozen up in disbelief as his eyes moved in the direction of his new teammates. Iruka called for a break and all eyes watched as Shisui and Misa headed out of the classroom together. Michiru let out a sigh of relief, his new teammates gave him a nervous feeling. He smiled softly with a tiny blush on his face, they were both very easy on the eyes.

"What are we doing out here?" Misa asked Shisui.

"I'm helping you learn how to throw a Kunai," He bluntly informed her, "I'm sorry, but you suck at it."

"Sounds about right," Misa sheepishly chuckled, "Teach away."

He smiled at her and he got a kunai ready and tossed it at a target. It hit dead center and he watched as red eyes widened in amazement. Yes he was showing off, but he had been dead for years. He could show off if he wanted to. He watched as she grabbed a kunai from her pouch before tossing it as well. It hit the target, on the side.

"Well, you grazed them," Shisui commented, "You're left handed, no wonder you have trouble with this."

He placed a Kunai in her hand and fixed her position. She tossed it and she got far closer to the center. He smiled slightly and watched as she slowly made small additions to help with her accuracy. She seemed to throw better when she had a loose hold on the kunai. Those always hit the target as well. Those were dead center throws. He watched as she changed her grip and held it correctly.

"Nicely done," He grinned as she hit it perfectly, "Trial and error?"

"It's how I figured out cooking in home economics," Misa smiled, "Apparently I could start a fire on water."

He gave her a look at that. He got a sheepish smile in response as she went back to practicing her accuracy. He joined her and the two slowly began to compete to see who could get the most targets with their non dominant hands. Eventually they ended up having to collect their fallen kunai, they may have tried sabotaging the other. Misa returned her kunai to her pouch and pulled out her sandwich.

"Tuna?" Shisui asked, he pulled a curry bun from his pouch, "That's a pretty heavy lunch."

"I haven't had a tuna sandwich in years," Misa shrugged.

He smiled to himself and the two finished their lunches before heading back to the classroom to meet their sensei. Misa looked towards the clock with a slightly serious face. She had put a lot of thought into who she wanted to be their sensei. She had almost chosen Kakashi, but knew that he wouldn't have taken them seriously. She decided on Hayate since he had been a highly capable ninja, he just got the most unneeded death in the entire series. She quickly put that idea out of her mind, this was a real world not fiction. Not any more at least. Michiru sat next to them and nervously watched as they quietly waited for their sensei. Students were already in their groups having conversations when the first Sensei showed up. He was coughing slightly and looked around the room with dark brown eyes that had dark circles under them.

"Team fourteen," He stated.

He watched as three kids stood up and head over to him. He was glad that only one of them had bright hair. That blonde would work well in undercover missions. He lead the way out of the classroom and towards an empty training ground. He motioned for them all to sit and he studied the children in front of him. A well rounded Dojutsu user, a capable Yamanaka, and a dead last student. He was going to have a hard time with that last one.

"Today is the day for introductions and the test to see if you will stay on this team," He told them, "I'm Gekko Hayate, I will be the leader of this team if you pass."

"Yamanaka Michiru," Michiru muttered.

"Sato Shisui, a pleasure," Shisui smiled.

"Ranmaru Misa," Misa finished.

Hayate stared at the kids before giving a soft sigh. His test was most likely going to be passed by them. It was similar to the one that Kakashi was going to pull with his students. Assassins had to get close to their prey, so seeing how close they could get was essential.

"My test, is to see who can get these dog tags from around my neck," He informed them, "You have an hour and a half to do so, and you must come after me with the intent to kill."

The three kids had gotten up to their feet and were in various positions. He counted sixty ways he could take down the only female. She had holes in her stance that were highly noticeable. He studied the dark haired boy next to her and noticed that he had noticed as well.

"Begin," he stated.

The three kids jumped away from him and he was surprised when he felt one of their chakras vanish. A second one followed suit. He hadn't been expecting that level of chakra control from two genin of all things. He narrowed his eyes and traveled towards the one chakra he could sense. The Yamanaka was standing with Ranmaru and Sato. The Yamanaka was the only one he could sense. It seems as though Ranmaru had some potential after all.

"Now," Michiru stated, he recognized the hand seals and quickly moved.

He was surprised when Shisui appeared in front of him and made a grab for the dog tags. He used kawarimi to confuse the kid, he easily caught a kunai that had been sent his way. He returned it towards the source, a running Misa, and was surprised when she easily side stepped it and picked up her speed. She was somewhat fast for a genin, but not fast enough for a Jonin. A well aimed right hook was aimed at his face and he caught her arm with ease. She clung to his arm in surprise as the other kids rushed him.

He hadn't expected these kids to understand the point of the test. Teamwork was essential in shinobi culture. His eyes slid to the girl clinging to his arm and his eyes locked with her's. She gave him a sheepish smile of apology before bringing her leg up and swinging it into his stomach, his body involuntarily jolted forward from the sudden force. Shisui and Michiru reached out their hands and caught hold of the dog tags. He watched as they all let out a victory cry before smiling at one another.

"How about some food to celebrate?" Shisui offered.

"Way to win my heart right there," Misa chuckled, "Barbecue? Ramen? Or Sushi?"

"I vote Sushi," Michiru stated.

"Agreed," Shisui nodded.

"What about you, Hayate-Sensei?" Misa asked.

"Sushi is fine," he replied before covering a few coughs.

He had been given his dog tags back and walked behind the group of kids as they had their own conversations. He watched how close Shisui and Misa were getting. It was somewhat odd to see such strong friendship out of people who had never talked before today. He watched as the two boys said something that caused Misa to turn pink and let out a small cry.

"Misa," Shisui stated in amusement, "You are far too easy to tease."

She glared at him before punching him in the arm. From the expression on the boy's face it had actually hurt more than expected. They entered the sushi restaurant and his eyes easily scanned for potential threats. He made a face at the sight of his life long best friend. Genma Shiranui was inwardly laughing at the sight of his friend leading around newly minted Genin. Hayate must've been easy on them since one of the dead last passed.

"Wipe that smirk off your face," Hayate told him as he made the kids sit across from Genma.

"Yes, sensei," Genma teased as the group of kids ordered their food and drinks.

He hadn't expected the female of the group to be the one to order the healthy options. He was under the impression that most girls liked sweet things. Hayate took a seat next to him and he heard the slight wheeze coming from him. Hayate easily caught pneumonia, he must've been going through another bout of it.

"Who is this, Sensei?" Michiru asked.

"This is Shiranui Genma, an old friend of mine," Hayate answered.

That seemed to be enough for the three kids who were more interested in their food and drink. Hayate almost smiled at how well mannered his students were, almost being the key word. Genma watched the dead last and noticed how she looked at the restaurant through her lashes. Red eyes turned contemplating before turning back to her food. Apparently dead last was smart enough to downplay some of her abilities. He had a feeling that these kids were going to be entertaining, he'd have to join in on their training sometime. His eyes turned towards the discount Uchiha, seriously the kid looked exactly like Shisui Uchiha (he even shared the name for gods sake), and watched as the kid took a glance around the restaurant before turning to ask the dead last something.

"I thought that as well," Misa quietly admitted, "She's been checking her out the past five minutes."

Shisui smiled at that as she finished what she had picked up on her plate. A spider roll was something he hadn't expected she'd like. He went to steal some of her food but was met with a slap to the hand from her. Hayate watched that in surprise, she was guarding her food like an Akimichi.

"If you had wanted some all you had to do was ask," She informed him.

Shisui gave her puppy dog eyes that had always worked on his Aunt Mikoto. She sighed before offering the plate to him. She was given a grin in response as a piece was taken off her plate. Michiru felt his eyebrow twitch at the two and gave a sigh. He got stuck with a pair of goofballs, good looking goofballs at that. Misa seemed to feel his eyes and she looked over at him. He returned his attention to his food.

"We start training on grounds ten at seven, don't be late," Hayate told them.

He would pay for the food since it was his job as sensei. The group of kids gave nods of understanding and he watched in slight amusement as Shisui dragged Misa off to go "spend quality time together". Genma gave a chuckle. Oh yeah, Hayate had a very interesting team. He was definitely going to join them in training real soon.

"I don't think I'm a sword user," Misa informed Shisui as he looked at the different sword designs.

He picked one up and held it next to her before shaking his head. He put it back before looking at a different one. He was basing the sheathe on what would suit her. So far none of the flower themed ones fit, he picked up one that was a black marble With blue cracks going through it. He thought it suited her. He headed towards the cashier and paid for the katana.

"It was your birthday, right?" He quietly asked.

She looked at him in surprise as he handed her the blade. She gave him a nod and soft smile as they walked out of the weapons shop and went their own way. Shisui went to a home where he didn't know his parents, and Misa to a home that was empty. They were ready for training and the upcoming battles they would fight.
