Mistletoe
Vanitas stood in a corner of the room, glaring at the people in front of him. His arms were crossed and his face read 'annoyed' in big, thick letters. He never understood the point of Christmas, what with all the happiness and giving and crap he didn't care about. Unfortunately, his twin brother, Ventus, was completely the opposite, loving every party he attended. Even now he was dancing in the middle of the room, looking like a fool in his elf hat.
Vanitas rolled his eyes and huffed, still not believing the blonde was related to him. He just wanted the party to end.
"Vani!" Speak of the devil...
"What?" he growled. Ven grinned at him, oblivious to (or ignoring) his brother's glares, and pushed forward the girl he had brought over with him. "This is Xion Fair! Xi, this is Vani..." He got another glare and finished, "...tas. Don't worry; he's not as bad as he looks." He winked at the black-haired boy, then left them alone.
The girl – Xion – began to nervously play with her fingers, avoiding his gaze. She had short, black hair, a blue flower tucked behind her ear. She wore a midnight blue dress and a white sweater. For a moment, she glanced at him – revealing beautiful azure eyes – before quickly looking away again, blood rushing to her cheeks.
Vanitas reluctantly held out a hand for her to shake. "...Hey," he muttered.
Xion shook his hand tentatively. "Hi. It's nice to meet you, Vanitas."
Before he could respond, Ven's voice came through the speakers on the other side of the room. He stood next to the DJ – Sora – and held a microphone in one hand, a mischievous grin on his lips.
Oh no...
"Attention, party people! We have a very special couple under the mistletoe! Guess who the lucky two are~!" His eyes met his brother's, whose face had paled considerably. Please... no... Slowly, begging in his mind that it wasn't true, he looked up.
...Damn it.
He shot Ven a murderous look as the blonde announced, "Vani and Xi! Congrats, guys!"
Vanitas looked at Xion, who was completely red in embarrassment, nibbling her bottom lip nervously.
"Well, what are you waiting for?! Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
The chant gradually got louder and louder, so, just to shut them all up, Vanitas leaned down and pecked her lips. Or at least, tried to. However, as cheers echoed throughout the room, Xion's arms winded around his neck, pulling him closer while his arms slid around her waist.
Eventually, they released, panting slightly. Sora began a new song, and they were left alone.
"S-Sorry," Vanitas mumbled, the slightest trace of pink on his cheeks.
Xion smiled, then gently took his hand in hers. "It's fine, Vanitas." She kissed his cheek, then disappeared into the crowd.
Eyes wide, the black-haired boy slowly reached up and touched his now red cheek. Maybe Christmas... isn't so bad...
"Three... Two... One... Merry Christmas, everyone!" Ventus cheered as the clock struck midnight.
