Jade was particularly anxious that morning. Cat wasn't making it any easier. Since the day began she kept on singing, "I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know"
Jade had to bite her lip not to snap at Cat. She had to do Lamaze breathing in order to not say something that would freak Cat out. She was really on edge and she knew how sensitive Cat was.
"Cat," she said calmly, "I am having a very rough day today. I get that "you" know something "I" don't know but "I" do know that "you" are making me more anxious then "I" already was today so if "you" could stop saying 'I know something you don't know' "I" would appreciate that k?"
"I'm sorry," Cat said, "It's just that we have a surprise for you and I am dying to tell you but I can't because if I tell you it wouldn't be a surprise. If you knew it would ruin the moment. I want to tell you but I can't. Meet me at OKEEDOOKIE today at 3 o'clock PM in the afternoon."
"That's what 3 PM means," Jade said laughing, "And please don't say what's that supposed to mean cause "I" don't have the energy to explain it"
"I wasn't gonna say that," Cat said, "I only say WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN when someone says something that's hurtful. That's when I say that but I'm not hurt and neither are my feeling and I don't have-"
You will, Jade thought to herself, if you don't quit yakking about it.
She would never have said that aloud. She was just thinking it because she was frustrated.
The day passed particularly slowly for Jade. When 3 o'clock came she met Cat at OKEEDOOKIE and Cat told her to get in the car.
"Okay," Jade said, "But where are we going"
"We're going to the train station"
"Why are we going to the train station?"
Cat grinned.
"We're going to the train station because there's someone who wants to see you there. He's been on the train for a day and ½ so far and his train is pulling into the station."
"Been on the train for a day and ½? Cat, what's going on?"
Cat pulled up just as Beck's train was pulling in. Beck came off of the train. Jade screamed excitedly as Beck ran to her! It had been too long since the last time they saw each other.
"How long do we have together," Jade asked him.
"We have forever," he told her, "General Friend's wife died. He let me go. He said it's not fair to you or to me. He was right."
He was also Jade's hero
"Thank you General Friend," she said out loud, "for bringing Beck back to me"
