In the Memory of Beckendorf....Rest in Peace.
Tell me if I should make more one-shots like this. And if I do...well, there will be more pain and deaths. Sorry. R and R!
Disclaimer- I do not own Percy Jackson or Beckendorf of Kronos or you get it.
Selfless
I could see Percy understanding my trick. He glanced at Kronos, who was paused.
"Open his bag!" the Titan commanded. I was determined not to flinch when they discovered my peaches. Damn fools.
Kronos was scolding Nakamura something fierce, but my mind was far off. A memory crowded my head:
Sacrifices must be made
They should be followed and obeyed
Finger touching the hand of time
Selflessness the only crime
Sinking ship, blood on his hands
The son of the sea must sill stand
See the seagull, hear his call
Decision for the good of all
The oracle's green smoke had disappeared with a puff. At the time, my heart had been jumpy and my mind frazzled: not today. I wasn't scared anymore.
Percy wasn t scared either. His green eyes twinkled with adrenaline. He stood straight and tall. I had to tell him: this was how it was. This was how it would end.
For the good of all...
My beautiful Silena. I knew that she would be in distress. Losing her was the only thing that made me hesitate: imagining her- grinning face, shining hair. If I did what needed to be done, her breath-taking visage would droop: red eyes, far-off look. My stomach turned. I hoped she would understand what I did and why I did it.
For the good of all...
Percy caught my gaze. He looked on questioningly. I made a zero with my thumb and middle finger. Percy nodded, glancing around suddenly for escape routes. I smiled. He didn't get it yet.
Kronos turned to the son of the sea and began talking about a spy or something. I searched the sky in the meanwhile: searching for a seagull.
It s pretty depressing to be waiting impatiently for your own death. It was strange, but I felt mellow. Ready. The time had come- decision for the good of all...
There was a white spot in the sky wings and a yellow beak. It was now. I glared at Percy, mouthing 'go'.
He was confused and then reluctance spread across his features. Selfless hero: Percy shook his head.
The oafs who held me were now examining the peach cans and I heard a noise. A call.
Surprisingly, the world didn t go into slow motion. My finger slid closer to my watch. Finger touching the hand of time...
Percy looked shocked and terrorized. Hopefully, he would know that some people must die. Sacrifices must be made...
For the good of all...
A dracaenae noticed my movement. "What isss he doing? What isss that on hisss wrissst?"
I followed and obeyed my destiny, shutting my eyelids tightly.
Click.
There was commotion. I, however, didn t move. There was a rumbling down below, in the ship.
I was thrown by the explosion. Monsters screamed. I was sad to kill some demigods on the ship (even bad ones) but it would be for the good of all.
Goodbye, lovely Silena. I hope we do NOT meet until the END of your days.
Camp Half-Blood, siblings, the war...
Tipping, slipping, kicking, moving made no sense. I sunk deep into the water. Sinking ship, blood on his hands.
Percy should have gotten out. The son of the sea must still stand... I hoped he and Annabeth would be happy together.
Far above, the last thing I saw was white spot flying in the smoky sky. See the seagull, hear his call...
Selflessness the only crime... Debris clawed at my skin and subconsciously, I took a breath. The sea filled my lungs. It claimed me.
I sunk lower into the depths. The indigo world faded into black. Incomprehensible phrases flooded my head.
Decision...decision...dec...
It really hurt my heart to write this.
