Sirius lay sprawled across an entire couch in the common room, one long leg dangling only an inch or two from the floor. Glancing around, he saw that he was alone, except for Remus, who was curled up in a large armchair reading what appeared to be one of their textbooks.

He smirked. Remus could be such a nerd sometimes. It was a good thing the werewolf had Sirius for a friend, or he'd probably be hexed every day by the other kids.

Lazily, he raised his hand and twisted a piece of string from the sofa between his fingers. He counted all of the portraits on the walls, then the statues, then the furniture. He contemplated doing the homework that had been assigned that day, but decided against it. It could wait till tomorrow.

Finally, when he could stand it no more, he gave in and made his move.

"Remus?" Once again, he peered over at the brown-haired boy who was studiously ignoring him.

"Remus," he said in a voice that made it clear he was not playing around. Still, Remus stared determinedly at his Potions textbook, not even looking up. Feeling irate that he had to resort to such measures to gain his friend's attention, Sirius picked up his own textbook and hurled it none too softly at the other boy's head. The binding connected with Remus' forehead with a thud, and Remus dropped his own book, looking startled. As he realized what had happened, a scowl swept across his beautiful face, and Sirius laughed.

"What the bloody hell was that for?" he yelled, annoyed.

"You were ignoring me!" Sirius proclaimed indignantly. "How the hell else am I supposed to get your attention?"

"Well, I wouldn't have been ignoring you if I thought that there was anything important that needed my attention."

"What's that supposed to mean?" cried Sirius. "Are you saying that I'm not important? That my wants and needs are not as important as reading your silly little textbook?"

Remus sighed.

"No. I am saying you have a short attention span, and I'm really not up to playing nanny to you and James while you act on some crazy whim that's bound to land us all in detention. Again."

Sirius relaxed. "Oh, is that all? Well this time I wasn't thinking of anything that would get us in trouble."

He considered. "Well, not really. The probability is very low, actually, and that's only if we get caught- which we won't." Sirius grinned as he gazed at his friend, who had already picked up his book and begun reading again.

"Sorry, Sirius, but I don't think I'll be joining you tonight. Incidentally, where will the mischief be taking place? I need to know where to come looking for you in the morning if you're not at breakfast." Remus didn't look up as he spoke, or he would have seen the mischievous smile on Sirius' face as he answered.

"Oh…Right here, I think." The raven-haired boy replied in an off-handed manner.

"Here!" Remus sputtered. "What can you possibly be planning to do here?"

"I think you can guess." Sirius rose from the sofa and strolled over to the armchair where Remus was sitting. Not breaking eye contact with the brunette, he climbed onto Remus' lap, straddling him.

Remus turned red, then hastily looked around.

"Are you mad? Someone could walk in here any minute and see us!"

"I know." Sirius grinned wickedly as he threaded his fingers through the brunette's hair and tipped his chin up for a kiss.

Oh, if James only knew the things that went on when he was at Quidditch.
