As We Fall
I'm standing here
Looking up into the needing blue sky as
Its gray clouds scream with tears pouring out.
Trying to decide what's right,
A silence creates a barrier around my helpless body.
The memories of our past mistakes
Guide our way to the dark valley beyond.
Everything we hear compels us to fall to our knees.
As we fall inch by inch
We feel the stubborn aching in our backs.
As we slave our way through this pain one shall call Life,
The shadows in the distance call out our names in vain.
As we fall into this world unknown to mortal eyes
Every last bit of the air we breathe in is destroying our lungs.
We cry out to the one that shall save us from this endless nightmare.
Although nothing is returned to our eyes
Nor ears.
We ask ourselves what we have done to deserve this.
As the barrier breaks in the distance
We rush to the sides of the innocent.
Holding out our hands
We fall once more,
As we have learned what we have done.
