"Have you ever gone on a vacation?"
Henry looked up from the file he was reading. "Pardon?"
"Vacation – take a break from your life, go visit something, explore..." Jo sat in the chair across from him, drinking her coffee and holding a cup of tea out to him.
He pushed the files away, accepting the drink. "I've been told that I take enough breaks from life, and I've seen most of the world – why would I want to leave again?"
"Henry, you know what I meant."
He smiled. "No, I haven't – not as you mean it. There was never a point to leaving home and traveling, when every few years I would have to leave anyway."
"Well, why don't you take a vacation now?"
"Why?"
"Take a break from all of the stress you deal with here – go a few days without worrying about any threat to your life, intentional or otherwise."
"Jo, I fear that I would not make it."
"What trouble could you get into?"
"I could fall down a flight of stairs, fall off a boat, have food poisoning, become trapped somewhere, have an allergic reaction -"
"Stop being so pessimistic – it couldn't possibly be that bad."
"Murphy's Law has great influence upon my life – I am certain that if I took a vacation to avoid the stress and danger, that I would find infinitely more."
She sighed. "Good point. It's not like there isn't anything to see in New York."
"Indeed."
"...But you've already seen all of it."
"As I said before, I have already seen most of the world."
"Well, where's the fun in that? Don't you get tired of not having new experiences every once in a while?"
"Yes," He answered honestly. "However, I've found that some things never get old – sometimes, there is so much more to appreciate in something that only becomes clear with more experience."
"Of course." She finished her coffee as Lucas finished up his lunch break in the other room. "Well, either Abe or I would be fine with going with you to pick you up from the water again."
"I shall bear that in mind for when I next plan an outing." He pulled the file close to him again.
"Good." She stood up. "I'll see you later – for dinner?"
"Yes, Abe was preparing a stew."
She shivered. "It's a wonderful day for something hot."
"Thank you, Jo."
She waved it aside, leaving the office. "It's nothing, Henry. Stay safe!"
AN: Well, I couldn't send Henry on a vacation entirely void of fanfiction writers, nor send him on a vacation at all (I killed him the last time I treid that), so I settled for the next best. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! Gramercy, and God bless!
