Hiei can find peace in only a few places in all three worlds. It was so hard to find a calming place in the sea of raging emotions for the lost fire demon, that he could honestly say he had very few places to call 'relaxing'.

One of the places where he can find comfort is with his mother's tear gem. Staring into the light blue tear gem seemed to fill his world with comfort. What kind of comfort, he wasn't sure. It couldn't be the comfort of home. Because that world had never been a home to him, and it never would be.

Perhaps it brought him the comfort of knowing he was alive, though that wasn't much of a comfort, it still was because if he wasn't alive, he wouldn't have gotten to know his second place of comfort.

Kurama. Everything about Kurama brought comfort to the fire demon. His soft voice, his gentle touch, his loving smile. Hiei would die without his fox to bring him the peace that he needed to feel every day. Kurama was always brought so much happiness and peace to the fire demon.

Though both those emotions were foreign for the longest time, Hiei still relished the peace that they brought to him. He wasn't sure where he would be today without them, but he was sure of one thing, life would be a lot more dismal without his loving fox around.

One of the last places where Hiei finds comfort is in the Makai, but only in certain parts. His one tree to be exact. It was tall, old Makaiian pine tree that had lived throughout the years, and had been ancient when Hiei discovered it many years ago. He basked in the soothing comfort the tree brought. How it seemed to protect him from the outside world.

Hiei had a great view of the Makai from this tree and had a great chance to feel the comforting breeze of home. He honestly despised the Makai most day because it was now following the human path, but as long as he had his tree and got to smell the calming scent, he would always have a way of being at peace there.

Though that may be a lot smaller than anyone else number of comforts, it didn't matter to him. Because in his eyes, the comfort of his tear gem, Kurama and the Makaiian pine and air brought him more comfort than anyone else in the world and Hiei would challenge that.

As he lays in Kurama's bed right now, snuggled up to the warm and sleepy fox, Hiei can't help but smirk. "I bet there is no one out there that is more at peace and is happier than I am right now." Hiei said and drifted off, his mind, heart, body and soul at peace.

Where it would stay for the rest of his days.
