It had been two hours since Helen had seen the death of her only daughter, she had sat in the same spot on the floor of the main lab for an hour just crying her hear out before she allowed John to move her to the infirmary. It had all been such a blur, once Will had patched up her arm John led her down to her bedroom, as she laid down on the bed he turned to leave "Stay with me" she asked looking at the man she loved with her entire being , He simply nodded and sat next to her on the bed, Helen sat up leaning her head on his shoulder the tears began to fall all over again, John just held her in his arms and let her cry. He was in a lot of pain, is heart felt as if it had been shattered it a million pieces, to see the woman he had loved for more than a century cry and that his, their daughter had been taken from them in the most unnatural way possible made him want to cry like a baby, but he knew he would have to be strong for Helen, his Helen.
-The Next Morning-
Helen awoke early the next morning, her heart broken and her arm aching, she slowly rolled over onto her back and sat up "John" she said as she saw him asleep on the couch opposite her bed, he woke up and went over to her "Helen, your awake, are you in any pain?" he asked as he sat down beside her, she shook her head and got up "I'm going to have a shower" she told him and walked into the bathroom, closing the door she sank to the floor and cried, wishing she could go back and save her daughter, stop her going on that mission. find her soon. She got up ignoring the wave of pain that went through her arm and turned on the shower, slowly stepping out of her clothes she stepped underneath the hot water and let it wash away the dirt of the night before and praying for it to wash away the pain.
-Four Months Later-
December 14th, it was a day that for twenty three years she had loved, it was Ashley birthday, it used to be a day of happiness and celebration but now it was just a day of sorrow, of memories and of dreams that would now because of the Cabal never come to be. Helen was sitting at the base of Ashley's bed clutching onto the motorcycle jacket Ashley had loved so much, as a tear fell onto to the smooth black leather Helen remembered the day she had given it to her.
*Flashback April 2007*
"MOM" Ashley yelled from where she was standing in the Sanctuary kitchen wondering why her mother had told her to meet her there, "Ashley can you please keep your voice down?" Helen asked as she walked into the kitchen and placed a large box down on the kitchen table "open it" Helen told her daughter with a smile on her face, Ashley did as she was told and pulled out the most beautiful leather jacket she had ever seen "Holy Crap, Mom I love it" she said as she pulled her mother into a hug
*End Flashback*
Helen smiled to her self at the memory as yet another flood of tears rolled down her cheeks, she had lost so many people in her long life but never had it hurt as much as losing Ashley had or for as long, Helen felt as if her heart and been torn from her chest.
After what had seemed to he been hours she was joined by her protege Will who simply sat next to her placing his arm around her shoulder and allowed her to cry on his shoulder. The loss of a daughter… Truly was a wound that never heals
