Hey guys! I'm back and better than ever. However, my first story ended up a train wreck. The plot is so confusing it befuddles its own writer. I didn't plan things out. I thought I could create a premise and then dive in head first. I have way too many unused and otherwise useless story aspects. I worded everything confusingly and implied WAY too much crucial information.
I'm gonna cut to the chase. For those of you who were fans of the story, I WILL fix it. I'll remake the whole thing, up to its current progress, with as few changes as possible, and mass-update it. For those of you who want to see more of it, I'm sorry for the incredible wait, but you'll finally get it very soon. However, in the mean time, here is a short one-shot to keep you occupied and prove I've been improving my writing the whole time i was gone.
This story is brought to you by the letter B, as in boring, which this Author's note is.
Jeremy woke up in a panic as he took in the unfamiliar scenery. All around him, white. White tiles. White ceiling. White curtains. And a very uncomfortable chair, which he happened to be sitting on.
"Damn it, I had that nightmare again. But I deserve it, after what I did. Matt..."
He fought back tears as he once again remembered the day it happened. It was a Sunday, his brother's birthday. He woke up his brother in the usual way, screaming in his face while wearing that dorky fox head he was so afraid of.
Now, Jeremy was a very mean sibling. Since his parents were rarely home, he'd lock Matt in his room for hours while he invited girls over. He didn't want his little nuisance to get in between him and his many girlfriends. He always made sure they stayed out of earshot of his room, so they couldn't hear him cry and beat on the door. No one even knew he had a brother.
On this particular Sunday, Jeremy had big plans for his little brother. He would have a birthday party. Yes, and it would be at his FaVoRiTe place. Yes, Jeremy would enjoy his brother's whimpers and cries of protest as he dragged him against his will to the pizzeria. Then, he would give his brother his PrEsEnT. He would have so much fun forcing his brother to "kiss" his biggest fear.
And it all went horribly he and his friends threw his brother up to the large bear, something snapped and its jaws cleaved their way cleanly through Matt's forehead. At first, everything was still, Matt, Jeremy, that stupid yellow bear... Then all hell broke loose. Someone screamed sharply, the fire alarms went off and someone hit the emergency shutoff for the creatures. His friends ran. His dad, the day-shift security guard, rushed to Matt. The crowd of bystanders fled in a fear-induced panic. Jeremy remained stock-still, frozen like a deer in the headlights.
Jeremy's very informative flashback ended prematurely as everything went from white to black. He whipped out his flashlight and rushed through the curtain to check on Matt. His fears were confirmed, when he saw his chest not moving. The power outage had cut his life-support. Matt was dead. What he and that bear had started eight days ago was now finished. Matt was dead.
A few months later, Jeremy had finally started to move on. He wouldn't... No, couldn't forgive himself. He would always remember the day he murdered his brother. Due to it being an accident, he didn't go to jail, but he would never be free from the incident. They'd put him in a criminal database. Employers, universities, the military, everyone denied him a job, because of his mistake. That is, all except one. Vincent Fredbear, owner of the diner he'd tarnished, sent him a hand-written letter, offering him a night guard position at his new location. With no job, no home, and all his family members offering only very colorful ways to end him should he show his face again, he had no choice but to begrudgingly accept the man's proposal.
