I walked into my home, and locked the door behind me. With a big packet, I walked over to my parents who were watching a movie. Seeing me they put the movie they were watching on hold. I was glad they were sitting down, because the question I was about to ask will definitely shock them. "Can I change schools?" I asked.
"Why? Were you bullied at the school you were at?" My mom said worriedly.
"No, it's not that. I…I just…wanted to move to the school where my friends are."
My mom and dads' jaws came open. They were probably thinking, "Did Neku just say 'friend'?! They have a right to be. I used to be a loner, who didn't want anyone around. I used my headphones to block them out. But now I've changed. I realized how nice it is to be with other people.
"O-O-Of course you can!" My mom stammered.
I think they were really worried about how I was such a loner. That's why they'll say yes to almost anything that has to do with friends. As long as it's not something awful.. So that's why I knew they would say I could. I was happier when Beat told me that a kid just moved away, and a spot opened up.
I extended my hand with the packet closer to them and said, "Here's the paperwork." I then walked up to my room to give my friends the good news, leaving my parents with shocked faces.
Reaching my room, I turned on my computer and put on my headset. But the chat that my friends and I do is a little different then you might expect. We talk into the headset, and words come up on the screen, but we can still see out friends faces. "Why not just do audio instead?" You might ask. Well, that's because my friend Beat is so loud. That isn't as much of a problem when you're with him because he doesn't yell right in your ear. In our program, there wasn't a speaker option.
I got my headset on and turned on the program, knowing my friends would be waiting. I entered their chat room. On the screen, I could see my friends' faces.
"So, what did they say?" Shiki asked.
I smiled and replied, "They said I could."
"YAH! THAT'S AWESOME MAN!" Beat yelled. Shiki and Rhyme smiled. "I m-mean, that's good man, not that I care that you are at our school now."
Beat always does this, but all of his friends can see right through it.
"I'm so glad we don't have audio anymore," Shiki said.
"Yah. I could even hear him from my room downstairs." Rhyme said with a smile. Beat was leaning back his chair now, obviously trying to look cool.
"You know Beat, if you keep doing that you're going to fall."
"I will not yo! I'm careful!" Beat replied.
You shouldn't use "Beat" and "careful" in the same sentence, unless you're telling Beat to be careful. I thought.
Sure enough, Beat fell backwards as soon as I finished my train of thought. We all knew he was ok because there was nothing behind him that he fell on. Beat got up, picked up his chair and sat in it. Then, he started leaning back on it again. I put my palm on my forehead for a few seconds. Shiki and I sighed. What could you do? He was determined to prove that he would beat this chair. Just like the chair had challenged him.
Knowing I couldn't change his mind, I tried to change the subject. "What's it like at your school?" I questioned.
"Oh, it's great! Everyone is pretty nice there." Shiki replied. "Speaking of school, I need to go finish my homework, bye everyone!" Before anyone had a chance to answer, she logged off.
"Beat, have you finished your homework yet?" Rhyme said.
"Ugh, don't remind me!" Beat said.
"Mom and dad put me in charge to make sure you do your homework. So, please go do it."
"Fine, I'm going, I'm going." Beat logged off.
"I should probably go do mine too," I said.
"Oh, that's ok! I got to go do mine too. Bye!" Then Rhyme logged off. I did too, after her.
