Letter to His Queen

Catherine was sat at her desk in her office. She was quickly glancing over the reports from a few of the latest cases that the team had successfully finished. It had been a busy shift today. The case was a tough one but with determination on behalf of the team the killer was caught thanks to some trace evidence that he had left behind at the crime scene. Catherine finished adding her authority to the last report and sighed, before checking her watch for the time. It was still early in her books so she walked over to the coffee maker and made herself a mug. Once that was finished she grabbed the mug and took a quick sip and sighed out loud before returning to her desk. Catherine would not have been sat down for 5 minutes when Hodges came barging into the room with some mail. Lately he had become the lab mail-man of some sort as he was waiting for ''something important'' as he kept telling everyone on a daily basis. Catherine smirked and raised her eyebrow at Hodges so he would offer a reason for his interruption. "What ! I just didn't get the mail I was waiting for, here this one is for you." Hodges handed over the letter to Catherine, which after receiving she coughed not to subtly so Hodges knew he was dismissed. When she was finally alone Catherine checked to see if there was a return address but it was covered so she shrugged and opened the letter. On seeing and recognising the hand writing she smiled. It was a letter from Grissom explaining what he had been up to for the past few months since leaving his role as Supervisor of the crime lab .
