They are the only two people in the world.

erenandmikasa.

mikasaanderen.

They can barely remember a time where they were apart.

He'll always be running away from her, saying that he wants to leave her behind.

But he'll still be looking over his shoulder to see if she's still keeping up with him.

Because when he says her wants her to go, he means that he wants her to follow.

It's a test, she thinks, a never-ending test of her patience and her loyalty towards Eren.

To see if she'll still be there for him, if she'll still know Eren better than himself.

And even though she grows weary of this endless chase,

In this beautiful, cruel world

Even when all she wants to do is lay down her swords and leave this war behind,

All I can do is ask why we're still alive.

She couldn't leave him.

Because he was a fire that burned its' shape into the back of her eyelids and she could never forget him.

We desire the courage to face toward the future

So we get lost in the past

"Why?"

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. Why do you do anything for me?"

"…"

"Mikasa?"

"You used to smile."

Until I return to the true present

Where you laugh

A/N: I need a reality check, because I haven't read or watched Attack on Titan in months, but here I am writing ErenKasa weirdness.

So. For anyone that's familiar with my work, another broody ErenKasa for the archive. I think this'll be the last because this oneshot sounds a lot like the ones I've written before.

The first two lines of lyrics are from the first Shingeki no Kyoujin ending. The last four lines of lyrics are from the opening of Pandora Hearts, "Parallel Hearts". Summary taken from "Hurry up and Save me" by Tiffany Giardina. You should consider all of it disclaimed.

So, I received a review a little while ago that said that one of my oneshots sounded like poetry, which was interesting because I don't think of these oneshots as poetry while I'm writing them. Thoughts?

Feedback is always appreciated, whether positive or negative!
