Weakness Coming On
Meg thinks, the chariot wheels turning in her head until they're practically on fire. There has to be an easier way to do this. Has to be a way that she can wrench her soul out of Hades' grip without it tearing. Has to be a way she can do this without hurting Wonderboy.
It's ridiculously easy to sneak into his place once the fan girls do all the hard work. Send the gate-guards (only guards Wonderboy needs, and even then, just for privacy's sake) running, and leave the gardens wide open. Thank goodness she doesn't need to think about that.
She follows the multi-coloured band of groupies, waiting for them to burst into his door, but even they have to sidetrack and backtrack to avoid the guards. Sheer tenacity cannot accomplish everything, it seems.
And somewhere at the back of her mind, something nibbles at her thoughts. And she wonders if maybe he'll see through their screeches and their screams and start to talk to them. And maybe he'll find that Lipara likes to throw the odd discus or Asterope likes green because that's the colour bandanna she gave to her brother before he marched off.
And maybe he could do the same for her, work his way past her defenses and learn that she took archery in her third year at the Academy of Thebes. Maybe he'd learn that she likes to cook, really, but it's kind of hard to continue when the wood-oven starts to spew smoke. Or maybe he'd find out her heart is in pieces, and maybe she'd ask if he could help her fix it? Just sort out the pieces, she could figure out the rest.
All of this became very-not-important when the girls let out a screech and burst through the door. Time to slip through that window to the left.
Here I come, Wonderboy.
