He wasn't like his father, neither was his sister. But they had to pretend to make their father happy. Now, they were on a train, on their way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His sister sat across from him, looking out the window.
"What if they don't like us, Marvolo?" she asked, turning her gaze toward him.
"That's not our problem, Miranda. They still have to put up with us." He replied, reading his potions magazine. She turned around and leaned back. They looked almost exactly alike, except for her being female and him being male. Her hair was long, wavy and jet-black. His was shoulder length, wavy and also jet-black. Their eyes were a startling blue-green. He was taller then she was, but only by a few centimeters. She was wearing the traditional Hogwarts girl uniform and he was in the traditional boy uniform.
"Why are they sending us to Hogwarts anyway? Why not Drumstrung?" she asked annoying him very quickly.
"I don't know, Miranda. You should have asked him." He snapped, closing his magazine. She lowered her eyes and shuffled her feet.
A boy opened their compartment door and looked in. He was short, chubby and was carrying a toad in his right hand.
"Do you mind sharing?" he asked. Marvolo looked at his sister and rolled his eyes.
"Not at all." She replied, smiling her one hundred dollar smile. The boy smiled in return.
"Thanks. This one guys." He called. Marvolo rolled his eyes and reopened his magazine. He didn't feel like talking to anyone. The boy sat down beside Miranda.
"What's your toad's name?" she asked, smiling at him again.
"Trevor and I'm Neville, Neville Longbottom." He replied, blushing.
"My name is Miranda Rid-" she stopped when her brother kicked her sharply.
"Miranda and my brother Marvolo." She corrected.
"Are you two twins?" the boy asked. She nodded.
"May I hold him?" she asked gesturing to his toad. He smiled and handed it to her.
Just then, two other boys and girl walked in. One boy was red headed and had freckles. The other one had a head full of unkempt black hair and wore glasses. The girl had bushy brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.
"Hi." The girl said, sitting down beside Marvolo. Marvolo nodded, but said nothing. The red headed boy sat down beside the new girl and the other boy sat down beside Neville.
"I'm Hermione Granger. This is Ron Weasley and Harry Potter." The girl introduced. Marvolo and Miranda turned their gaze to the black head boy.
"You're Harry Potter?" he asked, putting his magazine down. The boy nodded and held out his hand for him to shake. Marvolo smiled weakly and nodded.
"Thought you would be taller." He muttered, returning back to his magazine.
