"Friend Robin, what is love?" Starfire asked as she stepped lightly into the control room.

Robin was researching on the massive screen, and had his back to the Tamaranian girl. Upon hearing her question, the Boy Wonder promptly flushed a deep shade and crimson, and stuttered, "Well, uh… it's… you see… erm… What?"

Starfire tried to explain herself more fully. "I asked Raven, and she says it is a 'pointless four-letter word;' Beast Boy says it is 'the ladies,' and Cyborg says it is 'chicken-pot-pie,' so I am confused." Robin laughed.

Starfire misunderstood his glee, and her eyes saddened. "I am sorry, friend Robin," she said. "I did not know it was such a stupid question to ask." The orange-skinned girl glumly turned to leave, when a gloved hand reached out to stop her.

"No, it's not that," Robin said, "it's- well, nevermind. Love is a feeling of great affection towards another being," he explained. "There are lots of different kinds of love. You can love your family, or your friends, or even your spouse or lover. It forms a sort of connection between you and that person, which, in most cases, is a good thing. It's sad when you can't be with the one you love," Robin said, his downcast eyes speaking of personal experience.

"Oh," Starfire said quietly. "I see. Thank you, friend Robin." Who was it that Robin loved, but could not be with? she wondered. But she saw that Robin had a closed look on his face. It didn't take a genius to figure out that he didn't want to talk about it.

Instead, Starfire asked another thing that had been bothering her.

"Friend Robin, what is 'chicken-pot-pie'?"
