Kara could not help but to think that the top of the hill was the one most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The grass was lush and green and the slope was just right so that you could not see what was on the top until you rounded the final bend.
The perfection of it all made her gasp. Enough Raptors to carry away the pitiful remnants of humanity were clustered in a circle. And the rescuers of New Caprica were gathered within the circle, around the fire. There was no way it could be Cylons, she counted the figures to be 15 separate people. One, obviously the leader, sat apart.
"Apollo!" she called. Kara could name the shape of those shoulders anywhere. He turned, and the bright smile on his face was a mirror of her own. That is, until he saw her profile. In an instant he was at her side.
"Kara," he said warningly. Her leg was swollen to over twice it's normal size and hurt like hell, but she didn't care. After over a year, Lee Adama was supporting her, and she was supporting him. Her hand was around his body, and she made sure that he saw her naked ring finger. She just shook her head in response to his raised eyebrow. He smiled, and she returned it. Anders was alive, Dee was alive. Every person was needed if humanity wanted to survive.
The embers from the fires where extinguished, and everyone boarded the planes. Kara dropped into the co-pilot's seat next to Apollo and grabbed the stick. Together, they would hold the Cylons off long enough for the others to get away.
"Perfect," she whispered. Apollo knew exactly what she was talking about. This was how it was supposed to be.
A/N- I was trying to sleep, and my brain kept spitting out perfect sentances. I hope you get the abstract drift of this, it's not supposed to be concrete and discriptive. You imagine things playing in their heads, I'm going to sleep.
