They have it down to a science by now, each knowing their part. The alarm goes off, and she's always the one who reacts quicker, reaching out without even opening her eyes to smack it into silence. Once that's done, she rolls towards him, pressing her body against his, and his arms tighten around her, holding her tight. Lips eventually seek out skin, seek out lips after that, and there's a better than average chance that things will head fast in a pleasurable direction, but not this morning.

This morning, Warrick kisses her one last time before rolling out of bed, making his way to the kitchen. Once there, he makes the first pot of coffee of the day, the smell already beginning to spread through the apartment as he heads for the shower.

By the time he's finished there, another smell is filling the apartment, and he dresses quickly, going back to the kitchen, smiling when he sees her at the cooker. She always says that she can't cook, but growing up in a B&B means that she knows a thousand different ways to cook breakfast and they're working their way through all of them. He comes up behind her, places his hands on her hips, a kiss on her cheek, and she smiles up at him, warning him not to distract her, sending him to the coffee machine instead.

Breakfast was always something he could take or leave, but not since he's been with her. They eat her food and drink the coffee he made, and they talk, and it's the perfect way to start the day.

When the plates are empty, she stands first, her hand dropping onto his shoulder as she takes her turn in the bathroom. He lingers at the table, finishing his coffee, and that done, competes his part of their morning ritual, bringing the dishes to the sink, washing and drying them.

She's just finishing getting ready when he enters the bedroom, tossing him a smile from the mirror. She's struggling with the clasp of her necklace, so he walks over, takes it from her, puts it on, kissing her neck as he does so. His arms slide around her waist, her hands closing over his, and they stand there like that for a long moment, stealing a few quiet moments from the day.

All too soon though, it's time to go, and he kisses her for a long time at her front door before they take separate cars into the lab. He doesn't say anything about his morning to anyone, not even when Catherine smiles teasingly and tells him that he looks as if he slept well.

Because he always sleeps well with Sara in his arms.

He just wakes up better.
