I put my hands over my eyes, telling myself that I was going to live. Every gasp of breath rapidly wearing my lungs out. My skin had been burnt to the bone and the pain was so terrible, a scream couldn't describe the misery I was going through. Even my hair had been burnt to a crisp. Its once long, brown hair gone.
Where was I anyway? How did I even get here in the first place? My memory was gone, far far away. I couldn't even remember what day it was. Is this what happens when you're dying? I thought you were supposed to see every single aspect of your life down to the last detail. Whatever. I guess not.
As I woke up, a killer headache throbbed in my head. 'Wait.. I'm awake?' I asked myself. When I looked down at my arm, I expected the burns to be there. I expected my whole body to be pitch black. But instead, instead they were gone. Panicking, I looked around, to try and remember where I was. My first instinct was to get home, to find my parents. But I couldn't remember anything. Not even my own family.
The building I was in was destroyed. Everything had collapsed around me. Wouldn't people come looking for me? Someone must've put the fire out and searched for survivors.
I felt confused, scared and hopeless. Like when a kid gets lost in the store or loses their blanket at the park.
"Hello, is anybody here?" A voice called out.
I tried to yell, to let them know that I was here. But all that came out was a high-pitched screech. I covered my mouth in embarrassment, but I knew they had already heard it.
"Over here, guys!"
Excitement filled my body, I was going to be rescued. A boy with green hair made his way towards me.
"Hey, she's right here." He offered a hand and I gladly accepted it.
As I reached for his hand he gasped and pulled away.
"What's wrong?" Another person came out from behind him, and she gasped to.
"What?" I asked, scared to hear what they would answer.
"Your, uh... How am I supposed to.. Star, go get Robin."
The girl left, and the boy stayed a distance away from me. I stood up on my own and as another boy, supposedly 'Robin' came in. The boy with green hair pointed at me.
"What! Tell me what's going on!" Then that's when I realised what they were so afraid of.
My hands were.. uh.. on fire. I guess that's how you would say it. How could I not feel it? Wouldn't it.. hurt? A sudden rage grew in my body. I was so confused and scared. Soon enough, instead of just my hands on fire, my arms were to.
"We have to help her, we can't just leave her." Robin implied.
"She probably has to control her emotions.. ya know like Raven." The green boy suggested.
"Nice thinking, Beast Boy!"
Robin walked towards me.
"You have to calm down or we can't help you. Do you understand?"
I nodded my head yes. And for the first time since last night, I felt calm. My arms and hands returned to normal, and then I asked.
"What's wrong with me?"
The three looked at each other, probably didn't even have an answer.
"Do you have a family?" Robin asked.
"I-I can't remember."
"Let us take her back to our home. This will be very much fun!" The girl walked over to me and embraced me in a hug. I didn't want to be rude, so I hugged her back.
"C'mon. Let's go."
"Hey, ya'll. Was your mission successful?" A man sitting on the couch called out.
"Yeah. We.. we found a girl." Robin answered. He took my hand and took me into his room.
"I think you might have.. powers. I'm just gonna do some tests to see what kind. Okay? If you don't want me to, you can leave now. But I recommend, for the safety of others around you."
He smiled, and I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever."
We walked into a huge, empty white room.
"You see, I'll be over there," he pointed to a window. "doing the tests. You'll be in here."
I nodded and he left the room.
Sorry for the short beginning, it'll be longer the next chapters.
