Because he's not perfect, but you know that you're not either.
Because you can never get him completely off your mind, and when you try, it never works. Because he's so magnetic, and you can't pull yourself away.
Because you never understood magic until you met him, despite going to a school for witches and wizards. Because magic feels more real when he's next to you.
Because someone told you that feeling was love.
Because sometimes love isn't enough. Because sometimes, life gets in the way, and there's nothing else you can do.
Because even though he might not reciprocate your feelings, that doesn't change how you feel. Because you know that he cares for you, just not in the same way you care for him.
Because you don't want him to sacrifice anything for you even though you would be willing to sacrifice the world for him.
Because you almost did sacrifice your world for him. Because almost isn't the same as did.
Because somehow, magically, you both made it out alive. Because you used to think that was a sign that you belonged together. Because now you know better. Because the loss of hope is the worst thing that ever happened to you.
Because it's stupid that Voldemort couldn't scare you, but he can. Because your greatest fear is that eventually he will resent you for keeping him from his happiness.
Because all you ever wanted was to be happy, but when your happiness is so intrinsically linked to his, whose happiness comes first? Because you wonder if you can ever be truly happy without him. Because you wonder if you can ever be truly happy if he is not.
Because he's leaving and you don't want him to. Because you have to choose between making him happy and making yourself happy. Because you know that love means making him happy.
Because in the end, it really wasn't a choice. Because you do love him.
Because life was never fair, and you always knew that.
