It seems that in this day in age I can't go 2 weeks without another tragedy. I was finally getting to understand where I belonged in Rain's life and he comes this girl,
This Allenby.
Now, she's amazing, she's vibrant; she's full of life.
But isn't Rain? Doesn't she make me laugh too? Doesn't she take care of me?
But then... what's the deal with her and Schwartz? Does she love him? Why do I even care? It's Rain.
Allenby is different then Rain. She knows how to have a good time; she's always ready to party or to go out to dinner. She's just... always there when Rain isn't. Rain is usually busy with Hoi and Ming, or fixing the gundam, or helping someone with their problems. She has no time for me anymore.
"Oh, hello Domon. What are you doing outside? It's cold out. You should be inside. Come on I'll cook something for you."
That's what Rain would say if she saw me out here. Always concerning, always worrying. For me, no less, for Domon Kasshu who has never had someone care for him.
But what about Allenby?
What would she say? 'Hey there Domon! Let's spar! Let's go to the arcade! Let's go and do something! It'll be fun!'
Yep. That's Allenby alright.
Somehow I feel I need to pick between the two of them. It sounds rotten and very cruel but I think it's something I have to do.
Allenby is just a girl, as I mentioned before. Only a girl. She may wreak havoc on everything around her but she's still an amazing person.
Rain is not a girl, not at all. She's all grown up and she knows exactly who she is. She takes care of me. She's there for me, always.
And just when I need to make a big decision...
"Hi Domon, you look cold, let's go inside, I'll make you something to eat."
It's Rain, back from the store.
"No Rain! Let him come with me! You're not his mother; he should come and make the best of life. Don't pressure him into doing anything he doesn't want to."
It's Allenby, back for more fun.
And I think it was then that I realized that I needed someone who was grown up. I needed someone to care for me. Someone... exactly like Rain.
~You know Allenby; I think I need some home-cooked food. I'll see you tomorrow~ I said
Allenby nodded, 'Ok, I know the feeling. See you tomorrow.'
She skipped off, leaving Rain and I alone.
I looked at her, she was blushing. She came a bit closer to me and whispered so only I could hear.
"You hate my cooking."
~I know~ I said just as softly ~But I think I needed a quiet night at home. ~
She nodded, I could tell that she wasn't only happy about the two of us being together for the night but she was also happy at her own personal triumph over Allenby. She had won and she knew it too.
She stepped closer and took my hand in hers, leading me towards the boat's entrance.
"Thank you."
And I knew exactly who I had chosen.
