Muttering was made under a girl's breath. Her pacing was starting to burn a hole into the floor. Stares were thrown in her direction, but she hadn't noticed them; her focuses were on the mutterings she said and her chestnut brown plait that she fixed periodically. Her fingers were drumming together nervously as she strode back and forth.
Around her others were picking at their outfits, talking animatedly to other students, or peeking around the curtain. Suddenly, the authoritative yet comforting figure of Professor Burbage arrived out of the back corridor and clapped her hands together.
"Places everyone!" She announced with a large smile. "It's time for our first act to the wonderful production of Swan Lake." She looked to the pacing girl. "Are you ready Miss Bell?"
Katie stopped her movements and looked to Professor Burbage. She sucked in a deep breath and nodded her head. "Yes ma'am," she replied.
Professor Burbage continued to smile and gave her a comforting nod. She placed a hand on Katie's shoulder. "You're going to do wonderful. I believe in you."
Katie felt more at ease with the professor's words and nodded. It wasn't every day that something like an entire play production is performed at Hogwarts. In fact, Katie was ignorant to the whole 'acting' thing until the subject was brought up in Muggle Studies. She was fascinated by the story Swan Lake and practiced as much as she could to get any part in the play; but gaining the lead role was not in her expectations.
Now it was showtime and Katie moved through the curtains to start the show. After everyone else played their parts and the scenes ended with Katie and her 'prince'—Terry Boot—the cast of the show with Professor Burbage took their respective bows.
Katie let out the breath that she was holding in for the umpteenth time when the curtains closed. She didn't think she could pull it off, but it always seems impossible until it's done.
