A little something I thought up while battling a case of insomnia. Enjoy!
I Need You
By: Jaylonni Love
Her painting lay clutched in his hand; it's been years, years since she passed on due to an estranged illness that no cure existed for. Not even the Miko from the future could find a remedy in her time and he had to watch her suffer. Every day she grew weaker, every day her pain increased before she finally took her last breath and passed on to the next world leaving him alone and crushed. He had lost his first love, his everything and there was no way he could get her back.
Reina, he thought shaking off the tears that threatened to spill from his golden eyes. You were taken from me. You were so young, so caring. You didn't even get the chance to have the spell cast on you; the one that would bind your life span to that of mine; help fight any human infection that could have befallen you. But I was too late. I couldn't save you.
He sighed, blowing his bangs out of his face before he looked over at the clock, noting that it was already four in the morning. Tucking a lock of silver hair behind his elfin ear he reached for the lamp, pulling roughly on the cord, turning it off before he laid back on the large California King sized bed and closed his eyes; his thoughts racing a hundred miles a minute all focused on Reina, his lost love.
…
Sunlight streamed through the drapes over the windows of his bedroom, shinning directly on his face causing him to stir. He rolled over, looking at the time noting that it was already nine in the morning. Sighing, he sat up, running a hand over his tired face.
Pushing the blanket back, he stood, stretching before making his way towards the bathroom. He flipped on the lights before looking up into the mirror. He looked tired; empty, a shell of his former self like he had for so many years.
Another sigh escaped him before he turned on the water; cupping his hands under it and splashing the water in his face. He looked up as it dripped from his chin before reaching over and grabbing a towel and dabbing his face dry.
Replacing the towel, he walked out of the bathroom back into his bedroom and headed for the balcony doors. Pulling it opened as he slipped into his slippers, he walked out, standing there taking in the sight before him.
…
The sun shined brightly on the city. Crisp winter air whirled around Sesshomaru as he stood on the balcony of his elaborate 35th floor apartment looking down at the lively city below. The stoic expression he wore seemed to be permanent. Cold golden eyes gazed at the ground until he spotted a small figure walking along the road, completely barefooted, no coat on, with only a shabby fleece throw wrapped around her shoulders.
Something about the messy female sparked a weird kind of curiosity in him and he soon found himself leaving the balcony and walking into the main room of the apartment. Shoes were quickly placed on his feet and a heavy coat was wrapped in his hand in a matter of seconds. Walking out of the apartment he headed for the elevator and pressed the button.
Not too long, it's just something I thought up while I was re-reading 'Roses from the Heart'. It's kinda a prologue; a look into what Sesshomaru was thinking about before he met Rin. Hopefully you all enjoyed.
