Hello all! My pen name is TheBlazingPinkInferno as I'm sure you can tell, and honestly I am completely baffled at the lack of stories written about this beautiful manga, Hirunaka no Ryuusei (Daytime Shooting Star) by Yamamori Mika. It's seriously one of my favorite manga, and I strongly recommend you check it out if you haven't! Anyway, this is just a one-shot about one of my favorite couples ever, Mamura and Suzume. Enjoy!

He pulls away and she wonders why it had taken her so long to see how radiant he is. He gazes up at her from where he lies on his back, his hair tousled. His face is as red as hers feels, and as Suzume takes him in, with his eyes the color of fountain pennies, his exposed forehead normally hidden by his golden hair, his toned collarbone peeking out of his shirt, and the small smile that sat on his lips, she is baffled by how she could have missed it.
"Hey, look at me. I love you."
Her mind falls back to that day in the aquarium, when she hadn't been able to say those same words. She remembers the light shining through the penguin tank, and the way his eyes had looked as he'd said what he said, earnest and sincere. She remembers her heart thundering in her chest, and she remembers not knowing why.
"I'll never give up, because I'm an even bigger idiot."
But really, who had been the idiot?
It was her who had spent her time pining after a man far exceeding her in years, knowledge, and maturity. She had been the one to cry to the boy in front of her about her love for someone else. She had been the one to fail to look his way for so long. But, now...
She brings her hand to her mouth because she's starting to heat up everywhere. His kiss...not that she thinks about it that much, but...it really does something to her. Sometimes, she really can't get over it. She often finds herself repeating it in her mind over and over.
H-he kissed me. He...
Her cheek tingles as he reaches up and touches a piece of her hair with his fingers, the piece of her bangs that just never seemed to stay where she wanted it. He tucks it behind her ear, and she can't help but notice that he is becoming harder to avoid staring at every day. They'd been together for a long time now, yet with each passing day she was noticing more and more that he was so...
"Your hair is annoying," he says with a smirk, because he's having trouble tucking every strand away from her face. And she thinks it's cute that he's trying so hard.
"Sorry," she says. "I don't grow it this way on purpose."
He continues to run his fingers through her hair, and she just stares at him, remembering all the times he'd been this cute and how she'd failed to notice.
"It isn't fun without you, you know."
"Happy Birthday."
"When it comes to you, I know straight away."
"I won't let go of you so easily."
"I love you, too. Please take care of me."
At remembering she can't help but grin as widely as she can muster. Shishio-sensei would always be important to her. He was her first love, after all. But, in growing up, she'd found someone who could bring her true happiness, and in turn, who she could do the same for. She could be his shooting star, and that is one of the the greatest feeling she has ever felt.
"Oi."
She is pulled from her thoughts by the sound of his voice.
"You're smiling at nothing again," he says. "Everything okay?"
She feels her cheeks heat up and she glances to the side.
"Y-yes."
He laughs then, and the sound causes a sweet sensation in her stomach.
"You really are an idiot."
But she knows that already.
She leans down and slowly bridges the gap between them, kissing him gently. Warmth spreads throughout her body as she feels his fingers graze her cheek.
She knows.
