Full of terror, lungs bursting, I run through the cove, clawing away at the layers of sticky webs. Shudders ran through my body, as I heard them coming, scuttling across the walls and floors. He looked at me, his sea filled eyes questioning me. What? they seemed to ask. "Sp-sp-spid-d-ders," I stuttered, as if it explained everything. He nodded curtly, put his arms around me and closed his eyes. He was calling in the tide. I knew it. The son of Poseidon was calling in the tide. Suddenly a wall of blue and green flooded the cove, drenching me. He pulled me closer, creating an air bubble around us, so I could breathe, and instantly drying me. I opened my eyes to the sight of tiny black bodies floating in the water. I closed my eyes to the horrible scene. Then I looked at him, begging with my stormy grey eyes, Get them away. Please. A roaring sound filled my ears and the water was ripped out of the cove. I let out a deep breath. "You are a lifesaver."

"Why, thank you, Wise Girl," Percy said, his eyes twinkling. "Everyone knew a son of Poseidon would save a daughter of Athena. And I do taste good," he added, laughing. I punched him lightly on the shoulder, and we walked out of the cove. As I sat on the sand, Percy said in all seriousness, "You really look beautiful Annabeth, even if you were freaked out by spiders a couple of minutes ago."

"Why, thank you, Seaweed Brain," I replied.

"Hey, that's my line, Annie!" Percy complained. I shot a glare at him.

"Never ever call me Annie." I chased him all over the beach, Percy screaming,

"Help me!" Never have an angry daughter of Athena chasing you. And don't tease them. I smirked. Especially about spiders.
