Koma's face warmed from the steam radiating off the newly brewed coffee. The one and only human produce he could enjoy gave off its usual bittersweet scent that somehow comforted him. He walked carefully to the bedroom with gentle and quiet steps to avoid spilling any of the brown liquid. His experience of working at Anteiku paid off then when not one drop was spilled from the two cups.

When he opened the door, he found something he had never thought he'd see. He felt his face drop and his pleasant smile vanish. His eyes roamed your sitting figure, wrapped in the old jacket he had once wore almost everyday as he sought out strong, challenging Doves, and his infamous mask in your hands.

The white of the Devil Ape jacket clashed with the sinister red of the mask. He felt his grip waver as he stared in complete shock. He must've made a noise or maybe you just heard the clang of the cups, but the result was all the same. Your eyes bore into his gaping figure and embarrassment instantly took over.

"I, uh," you started, clearing your throat as a way to buy time to think of an answer to his obvious question. Ghoul and human eyes were locked and unsaid words seemed to be heard through the questioning gaze he gave you.

"What are you doing?" He asked, his voice calm and collected yet breathless at the same time. He couldn't deny that seeing you in his old getup surprisingly turned him on slightly, but that was a piece of his past, a dark one too. When he had decided to give up his glorious days of being a gang leader to go work for Anteiku he had buried and lost his dark and violent urges, but seeing the remaining items of that period seemed to bring them back into focus.

"I was curious," you answered slowly. You had set the mask down and after doing so one side of the over-sized jacked slide down, exposing your shoulder. Koma forced himself to take a deep breath.

"Any particular reason why you were curious?" He asked, his eyes glinting with wonder. The coffee was slowly cooling, but he barely noticed compared to his shock and disbelief. You bit your lip nervously, the taunting feeling you were caught doing something you weren't supposed to be doing overwhelming you. Considering the circumstances, the feeling was probably correct.

"It's apart of you, apart of your past and I guess when I accidentally found it," you gestured to the mess you had created when trying to sort and clean out the closet, "I just couldn't help myself. You know how I am, curiosity always gets the best of me."

He knew that, seeing as it was your own curiosity that ended up in nervous dates and important secrets. It was that exact curiosity that drove you to him, and eventually him to you. Koma sighed and set the warm cups on the dresser next to him.

"It's fine, just shocked me a little. I forgot I still had these," he admitted, his eyes observing the mask and jacket. Old, bloody memories swamped his brain and he swallowed them away. He held his hand out to you, and you took it, allowing him to pull you up.

His thumb caressed your cheek as he held your chin in his hand. His eyes looked over you in his old jacket once more and he somehow felt like he was savoring the image. Without much thought, his lips were on yours in a second. It didn't last long, but the amount of time it did was sweet and warm.

"Just don't surprise me like that again, okay?"

When you shrugged the jacket off and handed him the mask, he decided to continue to keep that part of him locked up and buried in the past. He had started over with Anteiku and you, and things like this didn't matter anymore. He set it in a box in the attic, somewhere it would be easily forgotten about.
