The Potential Breakup
By Mikomi HatakeDisclaimer: I do not own Naruto, or The Potential Breakup Song by Ally and AJ.
Author Notes: Well, this is my first non Kakashi/Sakura fanfict in a long time, so bear with me on this. It is only a one-shot, and is dedicated to my ex-fiancé, because that's how I roll.
It was a beautiful August morning in the village of Sunagakure. The sun was shining, the birds were out, and the children of the village were roaming the streets. Almost everyone was in a good mood, except for one kunoichi, and her two brothers.
The blond haired kunoichi was sprawled out across her bed, with the telephone dangling in her hand. The tears were falling freely as she clutched the receiver, hoping and praying for the darn thing to ring.
It took too long,
It took too long,
It took to long for you to call back.
And normally I would just forget that,
Except for the fact it was my birthday.
My stupid birthday.
He two brothers were sitting outside the door cursing the 'lazy bastard' that caused their sister so much pain, especially on a day like this. The red haired boy was planning as many ways to cause pain as he could, with the help of sand, while the other was plotting something quick and painful for the slacker.
I played along,
I played along,
I played along it rolled right off my back.
But obviously my armor was cracked.
What kind of boyfriend would forget that?
Who would forget that?
Temari was always pretending that it never got to her. Pretending that she had better things to do than sit around and wait for the phone to ring. She could be out anywhere at the moment, but all she could do was lie there on her bed, cursing her lazy boyfriend, who couldn't even pick up the phone to call on her birthday.
The type of guy who doesn't see
What he has until she leaves.
Don't let me go.
Cuz without me, you know you're lost.
Wise up now or pay the cost.
Gaara stood on the other side of the locked door and called out to his sister. "Come on Temari, don't waste you time on a guy who has no idea what he's missing out on."
The sound of an alarm clock hitting the door quickly shut up the red haired shinobi, and he quickly sat back down beside his older brother.
We got along,
We got along,
We got along until you did that.
Now all I want is just my stuff back.
Do you get that?
Let me repeat that,
I want my stuff back.
As the blond haired kunoichi paced her room, she began to rehearse the words that were flowing freely through her mind. She would leave a message with the first person she could get a hold of from his village, and let him know that their relationship had hit rock bottom.
You can send it in a box.
I don't care just drop it off.
I won't be home,
Cuz without me, you know you're lost.
Minus you I'm better off.
And maybe then the lazy boy would realize just what it was that he was missing out on. Maybe she could find a nice local villager, but of course everyone in the village knew of her brothers, and were frightened off by the fact that Gaara would not hesitate to hurt any boy who came near her.
You can try, you can try,
You know I know it'd be a lie.
Without me you're gonna die,
So you better think clearly, clearly.
Before you nearly, nearly,
Mess up the situation that your gonna miss dearly, dearly.
There was a swift knock to the door of Temari's bedroom. She flung open the door, and she prepared to yell at one of her brothers for bothering her yet again. She stopped as she looked up at the one who had disturbed her, and let out a small gasp.
This is the potential make up song,
Please just admit you're wrong.
Which will it be?
Which will it be?
"Happy birthday Temari."
The blond haired shinobi flung her arms around Shikamaru. He dropped the flowers and the small, wrapped box in his hands to return the woman's tight embrace.
