Elessar's Journey
Lonely was she who was my mother
Who remained to enlighten me
Beyond words is she who turned to me
And not to the Sundering Seas
Brave was he who was my father
Lost in battle long ago.
Noble and wise was he who raised me
And kept me safe from my greatest foe.
Life is simple for a soldier they say
But you're not glad for a chance to save the day
For with your dreams beyond reach, it is a sad place to live
And not easy in any way.
If I could go home, in love and free,
I might trade this royal blood that came to me
But I wake up, and the dark night carries on.
Far ahead and far behind
Lies my hard and lonely road.
A prince in disguise feared as a pauper unwise,
My memories are my only load.
Through this endless night I have made
Many a good friend.
Still there are moments when I wonder
If this road will never end.
But I wouldn't trade her, my Princess Niphredil,
Evenstar of Elbereth, not for the World,
Greater is she than the Trees or the Silmarils
Or the Nimphelos Pearl.
Many winters have I endured,
And many springs have I cherished.
With my faith in destiny, I walk on
And will honor my duty until I perish.
