[THE MOTHER]
October 1st, 1989
MARISOL GONZALEZ WAS A normal sixteen year old girl. She was the first woman in her family to stay in high school, and she was hoping to be the first woman to go to college. But she knew that if she wanted her dreams to come true, she had to work hard for them. Nothing came easy to her, all of the things she had in her life came from hard work and dedication, something that her fellow teenagers knew nothing about.
It had started off as a normal day. The sun was shining bright, the wind was blowing, and everything seemed peaceful. She had started her Sunday off by taking a shortcut through a park to get to her job. Marisol hardly ever had the weekends, which she was fine with. She had no desire to go to parties and drink her future away. Besides, she didn't mind the work. It was actually quite fun.
Marisol continued to enjoy her walk, taking in her beautiful surroundings when she felt her stomach clench up. She gasped at the wave of pain and looked down to see her stomach was protruding. Her eyes widened in shock. There was no way she should be pregnant, she had never had sex before. She began to breathe quickly, and she was scared that she was going to hyperventilate.
Marisol searched around for a nearby bench, but the pain became too much, and she collapsed onto her knees. She could hear people running towards her, but she couldn't figure out what they were saying. They surrounded the newly pregnant woman, their eyes alight with concern.
A woman crouched down next to Marisol and clutches her hand. She began to smooth back Marisol's hair and whispered soothing words. Marisol had never met this woman in her entire life, but at that moment, she didn't care. All she cared about was stopping the pain.
Marisol's vision began to blur, and the last thing she saw was flashing lights, signaling that help was here.

ON OCTOBER 1ST, 1989, 44 women all around the world gave birth simultaneously, despite none of them showing signs of being pregnant before the labor. Marisol Gonzalez was one of the women who had a child, a little girl she named Veronica. Her precious gift from God.
A/N: Here is the first chapter to Waiting Game! Even though it's quite short, I am still happy with it. I might rewrite it later if I feel the need to, but at the moment, I think it's the perfect length. In the next chapter, we will get our first look at Veronica and how she is doing with her powers, which I will not reveal yet, but you guys can probably figure out what they are. I hope you guys enjoyed and if you have any feedback, please comment below!
