Summary: 'Fai is a cat,' Kurogane decided as he sat by himself...
I got the idea for this fic today while I was talking about Fai and cats with my sister. This is the result. My first real attempt at something drabble-ish.

'Fai is a cat,' Kurogane decided as he sat by himself with a sleeping white manjuu on his lap. Yes, the stupid magician was definitely a cat. No matter what way you looked at it, the 'Big Kitty' was true to his nick-namesake.
Like a cat, the mage would, at one moment, be craving attention, doing anything he could think of with his pointless goofy smiles to catch the eyes of his companions. His eye would reflect a more playful light, especially when he teased the princess, and his metaphorical tail would wag left and right. Moments later, however, the feelings would pass, and the mask would drop for a moment. He would become gloomy for hours, keeping himself as far away from the others as possible.
Cats were odd creatures, also. You could never read a cat beyond his mood; other than that, you could never tell what a kitty was thinking. Fai was the same. Kurogane could read Fai like a book. He could see through every clandestine smile and smirk, translate every inane action the mage took, but he could never get down to the real nitty-gritty of what the stupid magician was up to. Fai's thoughts were locked away inside of himself.
Oh, and cats hated the cold. Had he thought of that yet? Fai despised cold weather, despite the fact that Celes Country was actually extremely cold in and of itself. Or maybe that's why the mage hated chilly weather so much?
Kurogane frowned softly as this 'cat' entered the room, currently as gloomy and introverted as an old cat in a bad mood as he gazed forlornly at the ninja out of the corner of a single blue eye. Crimson eyes flashed slightly as they gazed at the 'Big Kitty.'
Fai might be a cat right now, withdrawn and reclusive, acting in a bad temper to make himself feel more secure, but soon he would break through that feline secrecy and find out the reality behind that lonely blue eye.
