A Letter to Charlie

Charlie Weasley settled in next to the roaring fire. He received an owl from his best friend, Joanna, and this was the first opportunity to read it. It was a long roll of paper and included some photographs that he hadn't seen before. He put the photographs aside and began reading the letter:

"Dear Charlie,

Well, believe it or not, I'm a mother!! Our darling Kayleigh was born one minute after midnight February 14th. She is beautiful, of course, and when the in-laws saw her, they almost fainted dead away. Our baby was born with flaming red hair!!! Minerva was especially pissed and called me every name a woman in polite society had never heard of. Jordan looked at me kind of funny and said, "Red hair, huh? Looks like a Weasley to me." He was more than a little pissed off.

Apparently there are no red heads in the Kingsley-Kellogg clans since, uh, ever. There aren't any on the Morgan's side either.

The whole family was in tears (except me, of course). Mr. Kingsley told me he was disappointed in me and they could never accept a bastard child into their home and if Jordan wanted to leave me that would be perfect with him.

Let me tell you, Charlie, I was devastated!! She is so beautiful. She had ruddy cheeks and she smiled at me the minute she was placed in my arms. How could the Kingsley reject such a beautiful child? So pure, perfect in every way. Her smile would break your heart.

Just when the family had decided that I was the biggest whore in Christendom, and you were a miserable sorry S. O. B., my darling Jordan said that it didn't matter to him that she had red hair, she was his child. Charlie, I cried. I know you can't picture me crying (see attached photos), but the look in his eyes was so kind. He loved our baby no matter what! And he loved me. Can you possibly get any better than that?

We cried. We hugged. He loves me!

Despite his complete acceptance, the in-laws told him in no uncertain terms that neither me or my child would be welcome in their home. Minerva kept crying and talked about betrayal, blah, blah. I never liked the bitch anyway. And talk about stone cold bitch; Mrs. Kingsley called the rest of the names that Minerva couldn't think of. It wasn't pretty.

Then about twelve minutes later, just when the in-laws were storming out, ready to burn me in effigy, baby Kayleigh hiccupped so loudly that everyone turned around and looked at her, and believe it or not, her hair had turned Kelly green, then her hair turned burnt orange and twelve minutes after that her hair was turquoise! Our daughter is a metamorphmagus!! Can you believe that??!! I guess I had forgotten that there was a history of metamorphagi in my side of the family.

The good news is, I'm back in the will. Jordan laughed so hard he fell over and almost broke his leg.

So, enjoy the photos. Come and see us any time. (I promise they won't curse you), but you really shouldn't let Minerva get away with the names she called me (I honestly didn't know she had it in her!!!).

We love you.

Love to you, my studly friend,

Joanna

PS—Enjoy the photos, I've got about a million more.

PPS—Don't know how I'm going to explain the hippogriff birthmark on her rump!! (Just kidding!!) JMK."
