Stopper
If Mitsui is a bottle of alcohol, Kogure is the stopper.
The former is volatile, wild, ready to explode at any time. He inspires the best and the worst in people, his fitness yo-yoing like a roadside drunk. Viewed with suspicion and exultation in the same glance. The latter harnesses that energy, allowing him to use it on himself and preventing it from being wasted. He is Mitsui's calming force, pacifying him when anything goes wrong. Making sure that the potential within isn't ruined.
Walking home from practice one day, they fall into the easy routine of idle conversation. It's amazing how much they click; yet another testament of the bond between them. Kogure is musing aloud his hopes about the future, an easy smile on his face, when he almost trips. He looks back and receives a punch to the face.
"What the hell is your problem?"
Mitsui barks those words out after seeing Kogure hit the ground. He is angry, is furious, he sees red, and wants nothing more than to just beat these fuckers into where they stand. School and parents be damned, his fists are clenched up and he's already taking that step forward.
Until he feels a weight on his shoulder, holding him back, and he glares back into those brown, gentle eyes, magnified slightly by thick lenses. Placidity magnified. Quiet strength emphasised. Inexplicably, his heart slows. The redness clears; his breathing regulates. The gang notices something, and not missing a beat they start to jeer, but Mitsui shakes their bullets off like water. Once again, Kogure has successfully prevented the explosion.
Mitsui won't admit it, but he needs Kogure. Needs Kogure for now, as he grows and matures. Will he be a full-bodied, crisp Chauvignon or a cheap Blue Girl?
A few years can make all the difference.
I am actually not proud of this at all (except the 5th and 6th paragraph) but I felt so bad at not posting anything that I decided to. Post it, I mean.
Incidentally, the Blue Girl is the worst alcoholic insult I can call somebody. That stuff tastes horrible. All alcohol and no taste... like spirits, from what I've been told XD But Asahi is pretty good... xD
And I know that beer is totally different from wine but uh... suspension of disbelief, guys? Concrit LOVED!!
If you are wondering about Slam Theatre, I am alternating between believing that I have hit a rut and thinking that I have it sorted. It's really not fun...
