It was just another day in Okamura middle school. As usual, it's not really special about my school. Everyone who are starting in middle school were nervous on their first day. Don't know anyone there, don't know what they're supposed to do, etc. While others who's been in middle school for a while are happy to see their friends for another year.

For me, I'm kinda happy to go back to school, however I'm a little bit sad because not only it's another year but it's actually my last year in middle school and next year is onto high school. Time goes by so fast. But, I let it not bother me and just enjoy my last year as I can.

Facing right in front of my school, I headed in the front entrance of the school where I see familiar and unfamiliar faces around the hallway. Every single of them have there school uniform including me. As I look straight up, I saw bunch of people crowded around a board, searching their names of what classes they're in. Some are sad, others are happy.

Took one deep breath and I make my way through the crowd without bumping into anybody. I've gotten a good view of the board and started to scan for my name. Seconds later, I instantly found my name from a long list. Turns out, I was under class 2-3.

By the time I spotted my name, someone hook their arm around my head. Turns out it was my best friend, Endo Toshimichi.

We've been best friends since we were in the same daycare center. And he's been there for me for a long time. I was alone playing toys while the other kids were playing with each other till he was the only one who went up to me and wanted to be friends.

Fun fact about Endo is he loves to dye his hair. From blonde to pink. This time, he dyes his hair shaded silver. Looking like straight from a anime show.

He gave me a grinned look, spoke at the top of his lungs, "Arata, I've been looking around for you!" Yeah, That's my name, Arata. Arata Takagaki.

"L-let go of me, Endo!" I got out of his headlock and rubbed my neck in pain. "Sheesh, you're really about to break my neck this time."

Endo laughed, "Come on! We haven't seen each other since summer started!"

"Well yeah, that's because I went to Fukuoka for the summer to visit family members." I sheepishly smiled. "Now we're back in school for another year."

"Yeah, back to the most boring place of all time. Why can't we have a longer summer break?" He sighed in defeat till he went back to his cheerful attitude. "Well, at least I can see you! Even though we're not in the same class together."

Endo always have been a happy and hyper attitude when he's around me. Then again, he does to everyone, especially with his basketball team. When I'm bored or upset about something, he always make everything better by doing foolish things. Maybe that's why we're best friends.

As for me, I'm more of a quiet person. But I know barely anyone except Endo knows that I'm a musician. I love playing the piano. It was my passion. I'd stopped playing it though since last year. What's worse is that Endo doesn't even know about it. I wanted to tell him, but then again, I don't want to explain it.

"Come on! Let's head to your class before school starts!" Endo hooked his arm around me again, but not aggressively like earlier, walking away from the crowd and headed to my class. "Oh! Arata! Have you thought about what high school you going to?"

I raised an eyebrow at him, "Don't you think it's kinda early to think about high school right now, Endo?"

"So what if it's early to thinking about high school? You could have some thoughts about it." Endo pointed out.

"Well of course I did, but that doesn't mean I have already chosen what high school I'm going to." I immediately replied.

Endo gave me a sour look till he went back to happy go lucky face. "It's better to figure out what you're going now than thinking about it later."

I gave it a quick thought about it but couldn't think of anything. "Like I said, it's kinda early to figure out what school I want to go."

"*sigh* You really to give it some thought of it." Endo said. "Before you know it, your parents will pick it for you."

I ignore him, thinking about what makes him so eager to know what high school I'm going. It's like he's rushing things to leave middle school. Or maybe he wants to go the same high school with me. Whatever it is, it's making me somewhat curious about it.

"Well then, how about you? Are you aiming to get a scholarship for sports?" I asked.

"Eh, I had a hard time just thinking about it." Endo scratches his head, looking like he's frustrated with the topic. "Don't get me wrong, I do love playing basketball. It's my passion, just like you with music. My only problem is with my mom. She's not easy to convince on certain things."

"Well, she has concerns with you playing sports." I agreed. "You could try to get her to be okay with you playing basketball."

"Like I said, she's not easy to convince. But, I could give it a try." Endo looked confident till he started, "Speaking of passion, how about you? Are you gonna try going back to playing music? You'd never told me why you'd stopped playing. You were awesome at it."

My body froze when he mention playing music. Immediately, I'm starting to get anxiety in my mind. "I-I..."

"But, hey! I'm not really gonna force you. It's your choice." He didn't notice I was having a panic attack. I instantly snapped back and calmed myself down.

"Y-Yeah, of course." I smiled while chuckling nervously.

"Hm? You seemed nervous about something. Is something wrong?" Endo turned to me.

I winced. "I was just thinking um...how hard is our school work is gonna be."

"Since when you are worried about school work?" He looked at me confused. "Don't you have a high IQ than everyone else ever since the first year of middle school?"

"Well...never mind, let's keep going. I need to get to class." I walked away from him as he catches up with me.

Finally, we're made it to my class and I already see people sitting their seats. Some alone, some with group of friends. The class is just one of those ordinary room. Nothing is special about it, well there's a view of the track and field.

Endo looked surprised as he whined, "Aw what!? How come you get the great view of the track and field and I get nothing but a boring view of another building!?"

I smirked, "That's because I'm special and you're not."

"Special? The only person that is special is me! I'm good looking, have awesome hair, a starter in the basketball team and fabulous!" He stated, flipping his hair.

I shook my head as I look away, "More like a narcissist."

"I heard that!" Caught me red handed. "*sigh* How come you always get the good stuff?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?" I teased him.

"Arata, you probably took the luck from m-"

"Endo-Kun!" A girl voice called out in the halls. We took a quick glimpse and turned out it was Endo's friend/crush...forgotten her name was though. She rushes to us and Endo started to panic. He looked at me for help and I chuckled and patted his shoulder.

"Well look at the time, I've better get going. Bye-Bye! " I walked away from him, leaving them two alone in the hallway. By the looks of it, I never seen him so nervous. By the time she's next to Endo, she smiles and they started to chat.

As they left my classroom, I looked around for an empty seat. Immediately, my eyes caught one right next to the window. I didn't hesitated, I make my way to the empty spot and sat down. Setting my bag down next to the chair, I sighed in relief, laying down on the table.

Slowly, my eyes trailed at the view of the track and field. The grass was so green, the track looked smooth, and there was nobody around. It looked peaceful.

Suddenly, I felt a presence right next to me. I turned my head to the right and the first thing I saw was a pair of hands holding onto a school bag. My eyes trailed at the person's face and I was speechless
